The day of the recital, Mari practices the piano, waiting for Sunny story join her. When she hears the sound of wood clashing against the bedroom floor, she instantly knew something was off.

A month or two after I snatched Sunny's old journal, Mari and Hero got into an argument in front of Kel. I can tell it really scared him since he's been avoiding his own brother lately. He's started having sleepovers at my place instead of home.
October flew by fast, I can't even remember much about it other than I, Aubrey, and Kel finally hung out together. It's now November, which I'm feeling better about. Sunny would want the friend group to be happy without him.
I sighed, looking at the calendar. Wow, it's already the 11th. It's crazy that time can just race past your grasp so easily. I squinted at the date and gasped aloud.
IT'S KEL'S BIRTHDAY?!
I completely forgot! What kind of friend am I if I can't remember such a simple thing? I never thought I could even overlook things like this, things that I normally remember...
I bolted out of my seat and started to bake a cake. I had gotten a recipe book for it and the ingredients were relatively easy to find in the cabinets. I whipped up a cake in about an hour, decorating it was the hard part. I wasn't artistic!
I've seen cakes at the bakery before, I'll just imitate those as much as possible! I swiftly stirred the thick frosting into piping bags, sloppily cutting the tip off.

I put the cake in the fridge for later, I then ran down the hallway to the side of the kitchen, speeding to my room. I looked everywhere for a present, hoping I could soon make it to Kel and Hero's house.
My eyes landed on a limited edition Captain Spaceboy comic I had gotten.... for Kel last month! I sighed in relief of my past self getting that. I walked over to my bed with the comic lying face down on the floor next to it after I had read it out of boredom the night I got it. I bent down and softly grabbed it.
As soon as I set my gaze on the practically new comic, my slight smile dropped. Sunny... would have loved this...
I shook those thoughts out of my head as I forced my mouth to curve up into a concerning smile. I wrapped up the present with some wrapping paper I had in my closet. I ran to the kitchen and pulled the freezing cake out of the fridge.
I put my socks and shoes on, not forgetting my keys or the gift either, and practically teleported out of my house. On my adventure to Kel's house, I saw Aubrey walking on the sidewalk towards me.
I waved, careful not to drop the cake. She noticed me and ran up to my side. "Who's cake"? She asked blatantly. She also forgot. It's good that I'm not the only one who forgot, I felt so stupid. "It's Kel's birthday, so I thought I'd surprise him". I answered, smiling innocently enough so she didn't realize that I also forgot. Aubrey looked a little guilty.
"I didn't bring him anything"! Laughing, I gave her the gift in my right hand. "You can give him this, I baked the cake so it'll be my present". I smiled warmly as we reached him door. Looking to the left, my smile dropped a bit.
I miss him so much.
Sighing, I knocked on his door, Aubrey beside me. Kel opened it moments later with a surprised look on his face. "Happy birthday, Kel"! Aubrey Exclaimed. A smile lit up his face as he practically yanked us inside. I set the cake down on the table and turned back to Kel and Aubrey.
"You baked a whole cake for me"?! Kel said, overwhelming joy coming off of him. Aubrey softly bonked him on the head. "Of course, we would never leave you on your birthday without a cake"! I laughed at her bluntness.
Kel hugged the both of us, looking like he was going to cry. "Thank you so much"! He hugged us tighter. "Everyone else forgot, but you two are the best birthday rememberers"! His english was always somehow wrong but made sense at the same time.
Me and Aubrey looked at each other, kinda concerned. Did his own brother really forget? "We're gonna make this birthday the B E S T one yet"! Aubrey exclaimed, nudging for me to join in. "Yea, we're gonna be here for you Kel"! I added on.
That was the start of an awesome day to remember forever.
