Audrey's POV

"How was work today honey?" my mom asks, as I walk through the door of my house on the outskirts of Atlanta.

I let out a sigh of relief sitting down on the couch, sliding my heels off of my feet.

"Long, I have a client that doesn't know what she wanted; I swear this woman has changed her mind five times in the past three days. She's the one that set the deadline, and she's not going to be able to meet it if she keeps changing her mind" I respond.

You would think that being an interior designer would be an easy job, just picking items to bring a room together, and sticking within a budget. However, when you end up with client's who change their mind every 5 minutes, it can prove to be a daunting job.

No amount of classes, or on the job training can prepare you for the clients that make you want to pull your hair out every five minutes.

I knew from a young age that I wanted to do something relating to design for most of my life.

Growing up jumping from ballpark to ballpark, I spent a lot of time drawing and seeing the way that different places are laid out, and it drew me in. Seeing the history, and how something so small can change the entire feeling of a room had me thinking about different ways to make a room better than what it was.

After graduating from UGA, I made the risky decision to start my own company, and so far, it has proven to be successful. I got lucky having the connections that I did. Dad started spreading the word to some of his old teammates and some of the current Braves roster, and it grew from there.

"Well, Beckett is out back with your father. They were throwing around the ball with Austin when I came in. I swear, that child looks at Austin like he hung the moon" my mom tells me.

Beckett is my heart outside of my body.

A few months after coming home from Nashville with Cara, I found out that I was pregnant.

Cara and my mom helped me through it all, and they still do to this day. Between the three of us, my dad, and my boyfriend Austin, Beckett is overly loved and spoiled, just as I hoped he would be, even if none of us have any idea who his biological father really is.

Austin Riley came into my life like a hurricane when I least expected it.

Beckett and I were at a game with my dad when he took us into the clubhouse so Beckett could meet some of the players since he was starting to show an interest in the sport, it was there that I met Austin.

He understood from the beginning that Beckett was my priority and ended up winning us both over with his charm. Between Austin and my dad, the two of them help teach Beckett everything about baseball, and filling in the gaps where his father would normally be.

Hearing the back door open up, I look in that direction to see my dad walking through the door with Austin right behind him, Beckett a giggling mess hanging off of Austin's shoulder.

"You guys have fun?" I ask, looking between the three of them.

Austin places Beckett down next to me, before kissing the top of my head and walking towards the kitchen.

"I threw the ball so hard it almost knocked Austin over" Beckett exclaims, a proud smile on his face.

"I was off balance when you threw that ball dude" Austin responds.

"Whatever you say" Beckett responds, letting out a giggle.

I pull Beckett into my lap, kissing his cheek as he settles in.

"Are you ready for your game later?" I ask him, smoothing his brunette hair down.

He gives me a nod, a smile on his face.

"Papa and Austin helped me get ready" he tells me.

A few hours later, my mom, Cara, and I are sitting on the other side of the fence watching the game. Seeing as how this is a group of 4- and 5-year-olds, it isn't as competitive as a major league game, but with how Beckett acts you would think it was one.

"Did your dad or Austin ask you about this weekend?" my mom questions, pulling my attention from the game.

"What's going on this weekend?" I respond.

"Your dad and Austin were invited to Truist for a taping of that Morgan Wallen song about the Braves for some awards show. They said we could all come along with them" my mom explains.

If you were to ask my parents about their kids, they would tell you that they had two daughters.

Cara was my roommate freshman year of college. The two of us clicked instantly, becoming thick as thieves from that day forward. When my parents found out that Cara had no communication with her family, they told her that she'd always have a family with us, and she has.

"That sounds like fun" Cara exclaims, a smile on her face.

"I don't know mom" I respond, letting out a sigh.

Cara rolls her eyes at me, before looking over me and towards my mom.

"We will all be there" she answers.

Mom gives me a triumphant smile, knowing that she just won that battle since Cara agreed.

Cara is the one that forces me out of my shell, the one that convinced me to go to that bar in Nashville after we graduated college.

"Fine, I'll go" I respond, leaning back in my seat.

I look across the field, seeing Austin talking to Beckett quietly. A smile comes to my face seeing the two of them interact.

There might not be any knowledge of who Beckett share's DNA with, but one thing is for certain.

Beckett is as happy as can be with who he's surrounded with, and that's more than enough for me.
