Morgan's POV
Spending my Sunday morning at a little league baseball field was something I never expected myself to be doing anytime soon.
Yet here I am. Walking up to the field that Audrey texted me they would be on this morning to see Beckett play.
After leaving the Braves game a few days ago with the knowledge that I was Beckett's dad, I didn't expected Audrey to reach out as soon as she did. Honestly, I thought it would at least be a few weeks before I heard from here, and I didn't expect her to ask if I wanted to come to something like this.
I am glad she did though.
I was worried that I would get spotted out here and then speculation would go through the roof. Audrey was quick to shut that down stating that the people in this park don't do things like that considering that a lot of the kids playing were related to former or current Braves players.
As soon as I got confirmation about Beckett, I called my mama to tell her the news, and she was over the moon to have another grandbaby coming into the family. Of course, she was worried about the possibility of her grandsons mother using this for money, until I explained exactly who she was.
Now, she's as excited as ever to meet Beckett when the time was right.
Finally spotting Audrey standing next to a dugout, I walk over to her, a smile on my face as I spotted her talking to Beckett.
"I know mama, but I don't want to mess up" I hear Beckett say to Audrey as I approach the two.
"You wont honey, papa and Austin will be out there with you the entire time. If you don't like it, they will pull you out. Just see how it goes" Audrey responds, gently.
Sensing my presence, Audrey looks up at me, a small smile on her face.
"Morning Morgan. I got a few chairs set out by Cara and my mom for us, you can head on over there if you want, I'll be that way in a few" Audrey tells me.
I give her a nod, before looking at Beckett.
"Everything okay dude?" I ask him.
Beckett sighs, "I wanted to try pitching, but now I'm nervous that I won't do good and I don't want to embarrass myself" Beckett explains.
A small smile comes to my face, thinking about my pitching days. I give Audrey a look, asking if I can step in. She gives me a nod, before standing up and stepping to the side.
Kneeling before Beckett, I pick up the baseball sitting on the ground before tossing it in my hands.
"You know, I was a pitcher when I was growing up. I was scared the first time that I went to take the mound, but my coach came up to me and told me something I'll never forget. He told me you can't let fear hold you back, or else you'll get nowhere. I know you're scared, but no one here is going to judge you for messing up, everyone messes up" I tell him.
Beckett gives me a big smile, before looking up at Audrey with a smile.
"I'll try it" he tells her, before walking into the dugout.
I stand up, turning to face Audrey who has a permanent smile on her face.
"Looks like you just passed your first parenting test, good job" she tells me, before leading the way over to our seats.
As soon as we sit down in our seats, Cara and Audrey's mom both turn their attention away from each other and towards us.
"Nice of you to join us today Morgan" Cara states, leaning back in her seat.
"Yes, nice to see you again Morgan" Audrey's mom, Tiffany, adds.
"Nice to be here" I respond, giving them both a smile.
Audrey's POV
This entire situation is about as awkward as it could get.
After the Braves game a few days ago, I sat everyone down and explained everything, including the fact that none other than Morgan Wallen was Beckett's father.
Dad was worried, mom said she could tell all along but didn't say anything, and Austin was well, gutted to say the least.
Austin has been the father figure in Beckett's life for as long as I can remember, other than my own dad of course. It meant a big change for the dynamic between him and Beckett, and none of us really knew what to do with that.
We're all just taking it day by day and seeing what happens from here.
Austin walks up to the fence, a smile on his face when he spots us. That smile quickly falls slightly when he spots Morgan sitting next to me.
"Hey babe, do you have that sunscreen stick still in your bag? Your dad and I need it, and I want to get some on Beck too before we start playing" Austin asks, leaning against the fence.
"Oh hey Morgan, nice to see you again" Austin adds, looking in Morgan's direction.
"You too" Morgan responds.
Looking through my bag, I finally spot it at the bottom. Holding it through the fence, Austin grabs it, before winking at me and walking towards my dad and Beckett.
"Do you have everything booked for the end of season party?" Mom asks, breaking the silence.
I give her a nod, looking in her direction.
"I've reserved the hall downtown, got pizza coming and some goodies of course. I just need to get the medals ordered and the slideshow together" I respond.
"I'll help you with that tomorrow, I have some pictures on my camera from the beginning of the season that you could use" Cara adds.
"How much longer is left in the season?" Morgan asks.
"Another month and a half, but we have to get started on everything pretty early, especially if he ends up going to all stars, but we won't find out about that for another few weeks' I tell him, leaning back in my seat.
"I'd like to get my mom down here for a game if that's okay with you. Beckett doesn't have to know anything, but she want's to see him play before the end of the season. He's the only boy in the family, so it's a big deal" Morgan tells me.
I give him a nod, "I'm sure we could plan something with that, we will talk more later though. We're doing lunch at the house after this, you're more than welcome to join. We can talk afterwards if you want" I respond.
Morgan gives me a nod and a smile, before turning his attention to the game in front of us.
