Audrey's POV
"Beck needs to go to the bathroom really quick; do you need anything while I'm in there?" I ask Austin, looking up at him.
"I'm good sweetheart, you guys hurry back. I think everything is supposed to start soon" Austin responds, kissing the top of my head.
I look across the stage, seeing a smile on my dads face as he talks to a few of his former teammates.
As soon as we got here, my parents split up from us, and I haven't seen him since. Meanwhile, Cara, Beckett, Austin, and I ended up on the other side of the stage where some of Austin's teammates were standing, and a few of the current roster's kids.
I give him a nod, before grabbing Beckett's hand and walking towards the clubhouse.
Once we finish up, we head back towards the stage talking amongst ourselves when a voice coming from behind me stops me in my tracks.
"Audrey?" I hear.
Turning around, my eyes lock on a familiar pair of blue ones. As soon as they do, all of the memories that have been hazy come to light. It's like all I needed was a key to remember everything.
Sure, I've seen pictures of him over the years, but no memories came back. I guess all my brain needed was to actually see him in order to release the haze.
"Oh shit" I respond.
He lets out a small chuckle, before walking towards us.
"I thought that was you. How are you here right now? Why did you sneak out? I never thought that I would see you again." he asks, rambling through different questions.
I look around, planning for an escape, when a stage hand comes up to Morgan and tells him that he has to start getting ready.
Pointing over to the stage, I adjust Beckett's hand in mine, before looking back in that direction.
"I really wish I could answer all of your questions, but we should be getting back to the stage; it was nice to see you again though Morgan" I respond.
Morgan looks down at Beckett, before looking back at me, "Let's talk when all of this is over" Morgan tells me.
Not giving me any room to argue, he spares one more look at Beckett before walking off, following in the direction that the stage hand is leading him.
When Beckett and I make it back to the stage, Austin picks Beckett up, before wrapping an arm around my waist. I look over at Cara, who is giving me a concerned look.
I quickly shake it off, focusing all of my attention on the stage, all while coming up with a plan to avoid Morgan after this is over.
Morgan's POV
As soon as the recording was over, I'm immediately running off the stage to get unhooked, hoping to catch Audrey before she had a chance to run away.
Audrey has been engraved in my mind since the night we met, even though that night was all that we had together.
There was something about her that drew me in from the moment I walked into the bar. I knew from that moment that I couldn't let her go without at least talking to her.
When I woke up that next morning and she was gone, no trace left, I kicked myself for sleeping in for once. I didn't want it to be a one-night thing, I wanted to get to know her.
Guess that's what I get for jumping into bed with her without getting her number first.
Walking down the stairs, I'm immediately ushered over to the small group of Braves players -current and former- standing off to the side huddled together.
While this was a dream of mine as a child. The only thing that I can think of is going to find Audrey, and finding out about that little boy who was with her.
When I reach the group, I see John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, Chipper Jones, and some of the newer guys standing around.
Hearing me approach, they all look in my direction, smiles on their faces.
After a few introductions, we all stand around talking for a little while, each of them mentioning how much they like the song.
A little voice nearby breaks me out of my conversation with John Smoltz.
"Papa, I'm tired" I hear.
Looking in that direction, I see the little boy Audrey was walking with looking up at Chipper rubbing his eyes.
Chipper picks him up, rubbing his back as he lays his head on Chipper's shoulder.
Papa?
Ending the conversation with John, I walk towards Chipper, determination spreading through my body.
"Oh Morgan! This is my grandson Beckett" he says, motioning to the barely awake toddler in his arms.
"He's a cute little guy. How old is he?" I ask.
"Almost four. This little guy is the light of my life next to his mama of course" He responds, a proud smile on his face.
Before I can ask any more questions, Austin Riley comes walking through the crowd in our direction, gaining Chipper's attention.
"He asleep?" Austin asks Chipper.
Chipper gives him a nod, "fell asleep not long after he got up here. You guys ready to take him home I'm guessing" Chipper responds, adjusting the little boy in his arms.
Austin gives him a nod, "The girls are about ready to go here soon. They're chatting with some of the girls about the game next week, and Beckett's game tomorrow" he tells him.
Chipper gives him a nod, before passing Beckett over to Austin.
I watch as the little boy snuggles into the MLB player almost as if it's second nature, jealousy coursing through my body as I watch the two of them.
There's something about the boy that screams familiarity to me, something that apparently, I need to speak with his mother about.
"Good show tonight Morgan" Austin tells me, breaking me out of my thought.
"Oh, thanks man. Good game last weekend by the way, I've been trying to get to one this season, but my schedule doesn't seem to line up with any" I respond, attempting to make small talk.
"Well, we have a game next Wednesday. If your schedule is free, we'd love to have you. I can even put you in a box with Chip here if you want" Austin offers.
"I actually am free next Wednesday, that sounds amazing actually. Thank you for the offer" I tell him.
"I'll get someone to send your team an email sometime this weekend with all of the details. I would do it myself, but I coach this little guys baseball team, so I don't have that much free time" Austin tells me.
"Oh please, you offered to do that for Aud and you know it" Chipper chimes in, letting out a loud laugh.
Austin scoff, "you try saying no to her and see where that gets you" Austin responds.
"Like any of you could say no to me" I hear coming from behind us.
Turning around, I see Audrey walking towards us, her arm looped with Cara's, aka the girl that she was with at the bar when I met Audrey.
"You're right we can't" Austin tells her, wrapping his free arm around her waist.
"Oh, Morgan is coming to the game next week. Thought, I could put him in the box with you guys, so he doesn't have to sit alone during the game" Austin adds, looking down at Audrey.
Audrey looks at me, a nervous smile on her face.
"Sounds fun" she responds.
