"Audio Log entry #4205"
"April 21,2150"
"Welcome back to my audio log...If anybody is listening to these, I request assistance ASAP. It seems the transmute and the mech-men have accentuated their need towards mass genocide. The last two days have been really tough as the mech-men had sent a death squad to annihilate our underground dwelling."
"A couple days earlier, the mech-men and their war contraptions laid siege to our base. The swifter of the mech-men attacked us straight out and by the time we could reach the entrance of the base, the guards there had already been killed. I, Mike and a few other men, armed with repulsor guns (courtesy of moi!) took the battle to them. And as the rush of adrenaline in my scientist-veins felt Oh-so great."
"The mech-men were pretty organised in their form of attack, and we were shocked to know it took only 2 of their infantry to wipe out the men who stood guard. As we rushed towards the entrance, Magma cannon fire raked past, and sent the Chaste defendants scrambling for cover. I just stood there, watching the shock and awe in the metal faces of our attackers, seeing their napalm based projectiles pass straight through me hitting the walls behind."
"FIRE!!!" I and Mike roared out in unison!
"These scrap-metal b*******s are gonna regret the day they were born! " shouted Mike, pulverizing one of the ill-fated mech-men foot soldier.
"You mean the day they were manufactured?" I said, winking at him, and charged towards the second cyborg, getting real close, taking full advantage of my intangibility. And then I scored my first kill, and in spectacular fashion: point-blank range Plasma repulsor blast
"Yeah, don't flatter yourself Doc! I should think you went that close so that you wouldn't miss!!"
"Make fun of me now, but you know I am valuable in the battlefield!"
"Not if you don't work on your aim!"
"Sure thing. OK, asI was saying, the other foot soldiers were pretty easy to take down, and as we rallied our forces in that feeling of victory, we were now faced with the juggernaut of the squad. We knew this was going to take a lot of effort to bring down"
"This big guy was a towering behemoth, over 7 feet tall, and total steel from the head down. He had gattling guns for hands, shoulder mounted, motion sensitive sticky grenade launchers and heat signature readers for eyes. And to add insult to injury, this guy was a show-off, his metal body decorated with trophies of his luckless enemies. Skulls. Skin. Bones. Intimidation had been defined."
"We are now attached to an object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis" I said, briefly forgetting my intangibility."
"WHAT?!" Mike blurted out from behind a wall, as were everyone else"
"Screwed."
"Even now?!"
"I can't help it! Any way, what are you waiting for? I'll distract him, you guys open fire!!"
"There's no sacrifice greater than someone else's. You heard the man, people! FIRE AT WILL" I heard Mike order his men as I tried to grab his attention.
"HEY, SCRAP METAL!!! If you're looking for more trophies of war, you came to the wrong neighbourhood!!" And then he let the machine guns loose, at me. Mission accomplished.
"The guys fired at least a hundred rounds of plasma repulsors on this guy, but it didn't even move him. Not even an inch. Then he smiled."
"He smiled and shot innumerable bullets at me, while I ran like I was being chased by a 2000 pound steer not wishing to give away the element of surprise that he couldn't possibly hurt me, and I only wished I was being chased by a bull instead. Finally, he caught up with me, but then, I was successful in wiping that smirk off his face, as he realised his bullets just went right through me"
"We have to do something, we're at a stalemate here" Mike shouted.
"Tell me, Mike, did you ever hunt??"
"This isn't a good time for this..But no, most of he animals are extinct anyway and the selective few that survive are just used by the Transmute to salvage DNA, but why do you ask?"
"Because I went hunting with my grandfather when I was a kid, and he used to say "If you need to bring down an elephant, you gotta sever it's tendons" "
I see where this is going, but only you are capable enough to get that close, without getting killed."
"Oh, I can do it alright, I said, pulling out my gold-titanium alloyed dagger, and lunged forward straight for the back of his knee-cap, he did attempt a futile resistance, but I ran straight through his body, got down on one knee, and slashed at his tendons, and the dagger was powerful and sharp enough to cut through his thin metal armor. He probably thought "if you are the biggest thing in the sky, why would you look up??" Cost him dearly, as he came down on his knees, rendered immobile, and with another deadly arc, I punctured his wind-pipe, and hen he choked on his own mechanical discharge liquid."
"And as was the routine, we cleared up anything that would serve ad an indicator to future squads that a battle had taken place, and the spoils of war: Machine guns, sticky grenade launchers, and a ton of metal to make weapons from!!"
