"Audio Log Entry #4206"

"April 22, 2150"

"An audio log? Now? It's the middle of the night!!"

"It's Important I tell them what happened while the events are fresh in my mind."

"You are a scientist, you have an eidetic memory and it's 2 in the morning!!"

"I have other things in my mind"

"Now usually I would start my audio logs by requesting assistance. Not anymore, because I have come to realise in the past few days that even though I tell you my dire condition, there is not much you can do to help, the Mech-men and the Transmute are advanced, your present technology will be useful at most, as death fodder. So IF there have been any plans made to send in re-enforcements, fall back. I repeat, abort mission"

"The following events took place on the evening to the night of April 21, after the Mech-men attack had been neutralised, the other Chaste were celebrating a much needed victory, while I retreated to my converted and improvised lab, to engineer more able and effective weapons, as our weapons didn't as much as dent their cyborg skin."

"We salvaged as much weapons as we could form the infiltrators, like the afore-mentioned grenades, which upon closer inspection, turned out to be a fusion-based bomb which left behind pellets of heat-seeking Pyrocidic Nitrospheres,a laser guided rocket launcher with napalm mods and the scrap from the offline cyborgs did help a lot in manufacturing powerful neutralisers, for instance, I had just made a machine gun which fired radio-active bullets, and was adding finishing touches on a twin rocket launcher, when Mike walked in."

"Welcome to my make-shift lab, Mike, What makes you come here?" I asked. "Well, I was just wanted to see what you were up to instead of celebrating your very first kill!"

"I am.."

"That was rhetorical, there's nothing more interesting than the celebration."

"Humor me" I countered.

"I'm just finishing up on these twin missiles."

"So what did you name them?" he asked, referring to my habit of assigning a term to the weapons I made"

"Well, this missile is named Kate" I answered, equally playfully. "Kate?!" He burst out. I am sure there were many questions in his mind as to why I decided to name it that, but they were soon to disappear as he continued "Oh-kay... Whats the other missile named? They are twin missiles, right?"

"Yeah, this is Dupli-Kate."

Laughter followed, and then he said, sarcastically, "Kate and Dupli-Kate, the twin missiles. Great names, 'cuz I thought their names would be intimidating, like Amy, or.. or..Tiffany. Anyway, so this is what you did with the room we gave you."

" You see, a bus-station is where buses stop, and train station is where trains halt." I said

"I don't see the point." He, as always, interrupted.

"Of course you don't, I haven't made it yet! Anyway, welcome to my workstation!"

"Oh, I see what you did there! Good one, Doc!"

"Thanks, casual talk helps take stress off my cerebral cortex and increases the productivity many-fold"

"Alright, but close up after a few minutes, any remaining light may attract more unwanted guests"

I just nodded and then he retreated for the day, and I did the same after a few minutes, but our sleep was interrupted prematurely with a nocturnal attack. Apparently, a few aerial Transmute scouts had seen our battle with the Mech-men and discovered our hidden base. I grabbed my gun as the attack signal went off.

As I raced to the spot, I noticed Mike had already gotten there.

"Give me a situation report Mike!" I called out, while I fired at a winged Transmute pecking at one of our men.

"We have already lost around 3 men to these bird-brains, but we managed to bring down 2 of theirs. They still have about 5 birds and an elephant-man hybrid thing"

"$#!t just got real, Mike, now watch and learn as I rescue you again!"

Yes. I can't believe I said that. But I did. Admittedly, my "advantage" was getting to my head.Anyway, I did shoot down one of the birds and Mike took one out, and then the Elephant Hybrid broke in and wiped out our frontal defense flank in one blow. He had a trunk, and tusks and the muscles of an elephant and just the lower body of his was a humanoid. Intimadting alright.

"Hey, your elephant hunting skills might work very well if this keeps up!" said Mike.

"I guess, so, but keep shooting, or we'll lose many more! And call all our men to arms! We need strength in numbers!"

"Roger that" Mike said as he sounded the "dire-situation alarm"

And a crowd of men with not much of experience were forced to come to our defense.

"Some of them were really excited. Some too-excited as they killed themselves getting too close to the Transmute. Some were hesitant. "I don't know how to fire!! Let me go!"  an amateur shouted from behind us. Mike was pissed off by then, " I DON'T KNOW HOW TO RIDE A BIKE, BUT YOU DON'T SEE MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT!!"

"The numbers did help a lot, a few fluke-shots hit their marks, while some missed wildly. Then I had an idea. "Everyone, aim at that elephant, he has a larger surface area, more probability of you hitting! Leave the birds to us veterans."

"Good idea, but since when are you a veteran? Mike taunted, eased a little as my plan was working.

The elephant was dead, and so were most of the bird-guys, so most of the re-enforcements retreated, and only I and Mike were left, and we were faced by two bird-men.

"You take down the left one, I'll kill the one on the right, Doc."

"Roger that" I said, and we both almost fired in a synchronised manner.

Mike killed his in one hit, but I had other ideas. I aimed at it's wing as it lunged at me, talons aimed right at my head. It went straight through me, hit the wall and fell down, out cold. Mike was about to shoot at it when I told him to stand down, "We'll see if they can give us any information upon interrogation. But just to be safe, I shot at it's wing. Get it shackled and chained, will you, Mike"

"Yeah, sure, but I have this doubt...If nothing can hit you, and passes through you instead, then how are you able to hold a gun or make them?"

"Now that you mention it...I thought of it yesterday, and I did find out the reason. I'll tell you later, right now, I just thought of something relating to what you said"

"Ok, doc, but what's with the sinister smile on you face??"

"I just got a wild idea" I said
