As I continued editing photos from the previous evening's shoot, my phone suddenly rang, breaking the quiet concentration of my studio. Seeing Joost's name on the screen, I felt surprised and curious. I hadn't heard from him in what felt like ages. I picked up the phone and greeted him, my heart already racing.
"Hi Julia, how are you? Busy?" Joost's voice sounded familiar and friendly, sparking a rush of memories from our previous collaborations.
"Hey, I'm good, no, you're not disturbing me. What's up?" I replied, eager to hear what he had to say.
"Good, good. Listen, you're the best photographer I know, and I have an offer," Joost began.
"Yes?" I could barely contain my excitement
"I don't know if you know, but I'm representing the Netherlands this year in Eurovision, and I wanted to ask you to be part of our delegation. You down?" His words hit me like a bolt of lightning, and I could hardly believe what I was hearing.
"Oh my god, yes! Thank you, I feel honored," I exclaimed, feeling a rush of gratitude and excitement wash over me.
"Ok, cool. I'm very excited to work with you again. I'll email you the details," Joost said enthusiastically.
"Yeah, sure. Bye, Joost," I replied, barely able to contain my excitement as I ended the call.
Setting down my phone, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Eurovision is an incredible opportunity for any artist. Not only would it be a chance to showcase my photography skills on a global stage, but it also promised to open doors to new clients and collaborations.
A few minutes later, a notification popped up on my screen. An email from Joost. Titled "Eurovision Info (So Happy to Work with You Once Again 😊)," it contained all the details of our upcoming journey. From visiting various cities for Eurovision pre-parties to the specific tasks awaiting me backstage, every word fueled my excitement.
"How convenient," I mused, realizing that the first pre-party was set to take place right here in Amsterdam - my hometown.
With plenty of time to prepare emotionally and logistically, I took a deep breath and returned to my editing. Eurovision, here I come.
