Falling Again

Arielle's POV

Ky was taking me skating, he even let me borrow Talia's dadaschuinf fur jacket. It was midnight blue with the black fur on the inside and big round buttons. It was definetly the prettiest jacket I had ever seen. Ky and I had turned ten yesterday and we were starting the new year by fufilling his promise to me. I was a little shaky since I hadn't ice skated since I was eight and fell into Lily's Pond. Ever since then, I had been a lighter, chiller person. I had tooken up art and sewing,  everyone was astonished. I was just glad I wasn't disappointing Grandmama anymore. She said I wasn't but I could see that she had wished I was a playful, careless child. Now, I was. 

"Hey, Ari! You coming or not?" Hazel yelled.

"I'm freezing here!" Talia, one of the twins cried, wearing her brand new velvet coat.

"Hurry up!" Juniper, Talia' twin screeched.

"Faster, Aribelle!" Lily hollered. She always added a 'B' to my name.

"Can you please hurry? Sandy's getting fussy." Ky called.

"I'm going as fast as I can!" I screamed back while jamming my feet into my boots.

"Wait a sec, Honey." I stopped. Grandmama got up and wrapped the scarf she had just finished around my neck.  "There." She said, kissing my forehead. "Now you're ready."

"Bye Grandmama!" I yelled back at her as I bolted out of the house.

"Ha!" I laughed as I leaped over the stump that blocked my path.

"No fair." Juni whined. "The only reason you're so good is cause Miss Danzaria is giving you private dancing lesson."

"Eh." I shrugged and glided around her in circles.

"Show off." Talia said.

"I bet you can't do this."  Lily said, showing me a picture she had drawn of an aerial pirouette.

"Ha!" I laughed. I flew up into the air, my scarf fluttering. I began to turn faster and faster. I stayed in the air a moment longer than what was humanely possible. 

How'd I do that? I wondered. At least until I began plummeting to the section of thin ice.

"Aah!!" I shrieked. 

Not again. I thought as I penetrated the surface of the water.

Kyron's POV

Wow, Ari has terrible luck. Was my first thought.

What the Tigelephin! Was my second thought.

Juni, Talia, Lily, and I stared at the surface of the water. Ice had, strangely enough, already formed over the spot she fell into. It felt like Arielle would show up and say...

"What you looking at?" Hazel asked. Haze had left before Ari's fall, to put Sandy down for a nap. 

We all jumped.

"What used to be Ari." Talia said in a dry tone.

Haze stared at the ice. Then at us, then at the ice again. 

"What the heck?" Hazel proclaimed. "If she's down there then what are all of you doing standing around? Shouldn't someone get help?"

"We would,"  Lily said innocently. " But the ice just got sparkly."

Haze glared at us. Juni shrugged. We all turned toward the ice. I felt like letting out a not so manly scream. We slowly turned and looked at each other.

"What? you guys didn't believe me?"

"You do make up a lot of stories." Juni admitted.

"Hey!" Lily hollered. She began to pummel Juni with her bony fists.

" You guys!" Haze said, pushing in between them. " We have bigger problems. Arielle's under the ice and we can all agree that the ice glitters, right?"

We nodded. "SO what are we gonna do?" Lily asked, glowering at Juni.

"I don't know." Haze said. "Maybe we can..."

I tuned the girls out as they fought over who had the best plan. The ice shimmered magically. 

"We got it!" They all yelled.

"What?"  I said.

"We're gonna go get Poppa!" Talia said, proudly. They all ran off into the woods, leaving me by the pond. 

Suddenly, a strange humming sound began. Hummmm hum hum hummmmmmm humm hum. 

"Ari?" I couldn't help saying.

Baboom! The ice exploded creating a fountain of shards. Ari rose out of the ice. Her arms were spread and her legs were pointed straight down. Ari's shoulder length hair flowed around her face, her sky blue eyes were closed and Arielle's face was drained of all color. A explosion of light, like a sunrise glowed behind her. She was 100 feet in the air, birds began swirling around her inanimate body. Slowly, she floated back down to me. 

"Ari?" I whispered.

Her eyes flew open and seemed to glow for a second. 

I heard footsteps approaching the pond. Lily, Juni, Talia, and Hazel emerged from the trees. 

"Oh thank goodness you guys are here!" I peered around them. " Where's Poppa?"

"What are you talking about?" Juni asked.

" Didn't you go to get him?' I asked.

"No." Haze said. " We went to get hot chocolate."

"Didn't Ari fall through the ice?"

"Of course!" Talia nodded. "Two years ago."

OK, that chapter was a little long. But basically: The gang goes ice skating; Ari schools all of them; Ari falls; gets her powers(I'll explain why the heck she has powers in the first place in a few chappies); makes everyone (but Ky) forget she fell through the ice again, accidentally. Simple. BTW I feel terrible. Maybe because this is my first book, but I can't see how people fail to upgrade for months. Not to be a hater but I didn't write anything for a couple days and I felt like the worst person ever. And also 53 views thanks so much guys, I thought the only people who would read this were me and my bestie Ans_7284, she is writing a story about the wacky family our friends and I made up.
