Here We Are

Arielle's POV

I was glad Ky and I were friends again, even though every time I mentioned Alec, Ky got jealous. Alec and I were really an official thing now. Not just a figment of Stella's imagination. It was fun, but not romantic exactly. I was 12 but I'd seen Stel's parents. The way they looked at each other, they were in love and I just sorta liked Alec. I could see myself married to Alec, it wasn't much fun, but it was survivable. Kinda of like Ky's parents. Utter devotion on one end and a casual interest on the other.

" And that concludes our lesson. Now, dears I have some very exciting news, daughter Autumn will be joining us tomorrow. It's her fourth birthday and with her new brother Spring getting all this attention, I want her to feel extra love-"

Bam! Bam! The schoolhouse exploded in light. Frightened students screamed and clutching to each other.

"Kyrin!" I screamed.

"Arielle!" Lis and Stella grabbed my arms and pulled me out of the building. Mrs. Summers and the rest of the kids ran after us.

" It's Falion!" Mrs. Summers shrieked. " They finally delivered on their promises!"

We all ran into the woods. "Ky! Ky!" I yelled.

I was finally understanding how Kyrin felt when I fell. It was like someone had ripped out my other half and there was no getting it back. All of a sudden some boy grabbed my hand.

"Hey!" I turned angrily.

"Is for horses." It was Ky.

I stopped completely dragging Ky with  me.

"Hey!" Ky exclaimed.

"Is for stupid boys who drive their best friend insane with worry." I snapped.

"Ouch." Ky started running again.

" I'm not done with you!" I shouted at his retreating back.

"Yeah, but I am." He screamed back.

I glared at his retreating back. Then, I ran after him.

Falion is a advanced country, much more advance than our little country of Marielle. Our Queen had been from Falion. She died in childbirth a few weeks after Alec moved to Witzam. Princess Mariella Rosa Willwelsher had survived and was a beautiful baby. But Falion, Falion was angry. They said they should have the Princess because the Princess was the only even sorta of heir of Falion. King Florian and Queen Rosa had had 3 more children before Princess Mariella. The King argued that Mariella was the last reminder of his wife he had left, all of the other 3 children were boys. Little Mariella wouldn't have gotten the throne in any case. Falion declared if the Princess wasn't with them by the start of the new school year they would attack. And they did. At one of the Kingdoms key cities. Witzam was small but it was a diamond mine. Far into the woods were no one dared to go was the diamond mine, it was full of precious stones and made most of the country's money.

Everyone was crying. It was the funeral of the lost in the Witzam Magicking. Alec Annesly, Mrs. Sarie Wishley, and her son Waldon Wishley all died that day. Alec died trying to save Sarie and Waldon. Even Uriel, who was not very affected with life and feelings was crying.

Grandmama stroked my hair.  I turned and buried my face into her good dress.

"Granny, what am I gonna do?"

"Only thing you can." Grandmama tilted my face up to hers. " Listen honey, I don't know why we're here and I don't know what our purpose is, but here we are, and here we're gonna stay.  It was those boys and that woman's time to go, and Guardian knows they're in a better place. Your Momma-"

I cut her off. "She's not my Momma anymore. She's just Izelle who gave her baby girl a locket and a kiss and disappeared with her son into the moonlight. She's NOT my Momma."

"Your MOMMA was a brave woman, and I know for a fact she must have been doing it for a reason. To keep you here a little longer. I love you Arielle Sky, my little dove, and your Momma did too." Grandmama stated.

"I love you too Grandmama." I whispered.

Kyron's POV

In that month everything changed. Arielle and I began meeting and secret and practicing her magic. Marielle issued a declaration of war to Falion. Nobody in our village left though. We we're need to mine diamonds and other jewels. My mother had a child, a little girl named Gemma in honor of the jewels that had saved the men in our village. Stella was sent to Durkli, a country to the south of us for safety, and Princess Mariella was kept safe in the palace. We didn't know what would happen to us the next summer. I was just glad to be able to spend my fall afternoons in the woods with my best friend. The school had been completely demolished, so our lessons were given outside. We were finally 6 years and we'd be turning 12 soon, but nothing had ever felt so wrong. The perfect life we had created had been smashed into a million tiny pieces.

"Ky." Ari whispered one afternoon."Do you think everything has a purpose?"

Somehow, I knew my answer would make or break Arielle." I do."

"Then so do I." Ari confirmed.

"Good."

The wind raced through the trees making ghostly sounds, like laughter.

Goodbye. I thought. We'll miss you.

Okay, I'm sorry for the short and crappy Ky chapter but I promise the next one is super exciting not super sad. That's Ky up there actually.
