WINTER
As usual, I sat on my bed trying to tune the guitar my brother bought me, Suddenly something caught my attention and I looked right out of the window next to my bed and saw Karina infront of their house dancing around while playing with some kids.
She was smiling dearly and so was I, she really was a sweet girl and you'd know that just by looking at her. Suddenly, she looked up and saw me looking at them. Agad akong nahiya at ibinaling ang tingin ko sa iba.
I tried to focus on what I was doing but then she caught my attention again, this time she was waving to me, she was saying something but because my windows were closed I couldn't hear what she was saying.
Binuksan ko ang bintana at mas maigi kong narinig ang sinasabi niya. "Come! Join ka samin!" She invited me. I didn't want to, I didn't want to get involved because I was having the time of my life in my room... As usual.
I took a deep sigh before and stood up and placed my guitar back on it's case and went downstairs to their yard. "Hey." I greeted and she smiled at me. "I thought you wouldn't come eh." She said and chuckled, I scratched the back of my head and chuckled with her.
"Well, I wasn't really doing something important naman, and I was always locked up in my room so why not come and join you guys?" I replied and the kids took Karina's attention as they saw a very beautiful flower, they gave it to Karina and as I saw Karina smiling while she was accepting the flowers, She took one and gave it to me.
"For me?" I asked and she nodded. "Are these kids your siblings? Or a child of a family member?" Tanong ko pero agaran siyang umiling. "Nope, they're the kids that I am babysitting." She responded.
She was indeed incredible, "You always do this? Nakakabigla lang, you're doing a lot of work na sa school and kahit din pala sa bahay when you're not busy." I said and she smiled, "Well, I had to. I wasn't doing it for anyone, I was doing it to save money." She responded. "Kasi my parents wouldn't give me since my brother's really needed them." She said again and turned her attention back to the kids.
Hours passed and the parents of these two lovely kids finally picked them up, they bid goodbyes to Karina and to me. I then sat on the chair and looked at her as she continued waving goodbye to them.
"Do you want coffee or juice? I can make one for you." Karina said but I respectfully declined. "How about you? Would you want that?" I asked, she froze and just looked at me. "Uhm... Yeah, I would love that. Coffee please..." She said and so I went back home.
Nakakahiya naman kung sa bahay pa niya mismo ako naghanda ng kape para sakanya. I made her coffee and also bought some snacks that we could munch while we're talking. I don't know why but I don't have a plan on leaving her there alone, not when I am having fun.
"Here." I said as I placed the coffee and the snacks on the table infront of her. "Oh, thank you!" She replied and immediately took the coffee drinking it while it's hot. I noticed how her eyes shined upon tasting the coffee, she smiled while looking at it and she absolutely looked so lovely.
"How was the election pala?" I asked trying to start a conversation. "Well, Our campaign did worked on a lot of people kasi sinabi nila na they're planning on voting us. Pero you've seen naman the changes diba when I became the president last school year?" Karina said. "Yeah..." I responded.
I looked at her, her eyes looked so tired but she managed not to show it. Who would've thought that despite being that tired, she still do a lot and will do a lot. She was only 20, and this is what she was already doing. It seems... So tiring.
It took us hours just by talking to each other but Karina had to go because she still has a lot to do tomorrow. I went back to our house and my mom was sitting on the couch looking at me with a frown on her face.
"I see your making friends with that Karina hm? Anak naman, I told you not to be friends with that girl diba? She was probably just like her-" I cut her off. Mama and Karina's parents didn't end on good term, they're close workmates in the past but a problem happened causing them to hate each other.
"Karina is not like what you're implying. She's different." I said coldly and went back to my room.
I laid on the bed and looked at the ceiling, I tried to remember what my mother told me earlier but it was all blurry. Everything she was telling me seems to blur in my mind now but those painful, hurtful words that she had thrown me was still buried in my mind.
Life for me wasn't perfect, all I have is Ryujin to help me get through life, she was there to make sure that I'll be alive and well everyday and now here's Karina, Karina... Who was a sweet, loving, pretty young lady that made me feel comfortable just by talking to her.
I rolled and tossed on the bed and decided to sit up and look outside the window, I could see Karina from her room trying to keep herself awake because she was studying, she looked so tired, I haven't seen that look on her face since the day that I met her.
"Was the world harsh on you too?" I asked her despite knowing that she couldn't hear me because of the distance that we have.
