Another day at college began with the usual hustle and bustle of students navigating through the crowded halls. Kanami and I walked side by side, our voices blending into the cacophony of chatter as we discussed the upcoming prom.
"I can't wait for prom next week! It's going to be so much fun," Kanami exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"I know, right? I've already started planning my outfit. I'm going to design and make it myself," I replied, my mind already racing with ideas for the perfect ensemble.
As we continued our conversation, our excitement was suddenly shattered by the jarring sound of Daichi's voice, cutting through the air like a knife. My heart skipped a beat as I turned to see him storming towards us, his face twisted in anger.
Before I could react, Daichi was in front of us, his accusations flying like daggers.
"What the fuck is your problem!?" Daichi bellowed, his voice reverberating off the walls as he closed the distance between us. "You think you can just lead me on and then get your fucking brother to beat the shit outta me!? You're nothing but a fucking tease! And your brother's just a punk-ass kid!" He shouted looking between us.
I felt myself shrinking under his intense gaze, my body tensing with fear as he invaded my personal space. The shouting was overwhelming, and suffocating, and I wanted nothing more than to escape from the suffocating grip of his anger.
But just as I felt on the verge of breaking down, Kanami stepped in, her protective instincts kicking into overdrive as she shoved Daichi back with a forceful hand.
"Back the fuck up!" Kanami's voice rang out, her words dripping with defiance as she stood her ground against Daichi's aggression.
I clung to her words like a lifeline, drawing strength from her unwavering support in adversity. As Daichi's friends intervened and dragged him away, I felt relief, grateful to be free from his toxic presence.
As Kanami wrapped a comforting arm around my shoulder, I allowed myself to lean into her embrace, seeking solace in the warmth of her friendship. As we walked away from the scene, I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, I wouldn't have to face them alone.
Bakugou's POV:
As I collapsed onto the couch, exhaustion weighed heavily on my shoulders. Another day of dealing with the mindless chatter of high school students, the endless droning of teachers, and the constant pressure to excel—it was all I could do to keep from tearing my hair out.
"Another day done.." I sighed, feeling the tension seep from my muscles as I closed my eyes.
But as I allowed myself a moment of respite, the peaceful silence was shattered by the sound of the front door slamming open. Kanami's fiery voice echoed through the house, reverberating off the walls with the force of a hurricane.
My brief moment of relaxation was short-lived, shattered by the heated exchange unfolding in the kitchen. Kanami's words cut through the air like a knife, her anger palpable as she railed against some unknown adversary.
Curiosity piqued, I abandoned the comfort of the couch and made my way to the source of the commotion, finding Kanami and Marinette locked in a tense standoff.
"Why the fuck are you shouting at her?!" I demanded, my frustration bubbling to the surface as I stepped between them, positioning myself protectively in front of Marinette.
Kanami's eyes blazed with righteous fury, her voice dripping with venom as she recounted the events of the day. My fists clenched at my sides, a surge of anger coursing through me as I listened to her describe how some coward had dared to raise his voice at Marinette.
"He what!?" I growled, the rage building within me threatening to boil over. How dare anyone lay a hand—or even raise their voice—at Marinette!
But as I turned to face her, my anger melted away, replaced by a flood of concern. There she sat, slumped on a bar stool, her expression a mix of exhaustion and resignation.
"Guys..." Her voice was barely a whisper, but it cut through the tension like a knife, bringing me back to reality.
"No one fucking hurts you!" I vowed, my gaze locking with hers, searching for any sign of discomfort or pain. At that moment, all I wanted was to shield her from the harshness of the world, to wrap her in my arms and protect her from harm.
"You guys aren't listening!" Marinette shouted, frustrated, and stormed upstairs, leaving Kanami and me to stare at her retreating form.
"I should-" Kanami started, but I pushed past her and jogged up the steps to Kanami's room. She wasn't there, so I immediately knew where she would be next.
Flashback:
"Ugh, Marinette! You've got to stand up for yourself!" I sighed, observing my 9-year-old sister shouting at her best friend, Marinette.
Marinette was crying because she had been pushed around at the park while Kanami went to the bathroom. Kanami was insisting that she should stand up for herself. I just rolled my eyes at the drama.
"It's not that easy!" Marinette shouted in her tiny voice while glaring up at my sister. I was 6, but Marinette was still shorter than me, shorter than everyone we knew, which was amusing.
"What do you mean it's not easy!?" Kanami shouted back, making Marinette cower away. Marinette ran off upstairs, prompting Kanami to stomp her feet angrily.
"Kanami Bakugou! Don't you dare yell at that girl!" Mom intervened, shouting at Kanami, who just yelled back. I groaned, feeling tired.
"Wanna go look for Mari, bud?" Dad asked gently, looking down at me and handing me two juice boxes. "Sure," I shrugged and hopped off the chair, heading upstairs to look for her.
I called out for her as I searched, eventually realizing that I'd looked everywhere. Passing an empty, small closet, I heard sniffles. "Ah..." I sighed and pulled open the door.
"Leave me alone," I heard her whisper, making me groan. She was small, so she could fit in here, just like me, although it felt a little cramped.
"Here," I handed her a juice box and opened my own, sipping the flavorful juice. "Thank you," she smiled gently, sipping her juice.
".....How did you find this place?" I whispered. This closet was in the corner of the upstairs and dark inside.
"I just did. Don't tell Kanami, though," she put her finger against her lips. Her lips were pink, lightly coated in juice, which she licked up. I licked my lips, staring at her.
"Kanami is mean," she pouted. I sighed. "She's just looking out for you. Sometimes, you do have to stand up for yourself," I grumbled.
"You're on her side!?" She glared.
"She is my sister.... but she is also right," I shrugged.
"Whatever," she huffed.
".....But... I'll look out for you so you don't have to stand up for yourself... stupid," I let out a little giggle.
"Meanie! Mama Bakugou said not to be rude!" She gasped.
"She doesn't need to know!" I laughed.
"I'm telling!" She came close to my face with a smirk.
I stared at her lips, then leaned forward and licked her lips, making her shriek.
"What was that for?!" She turned pink.
"You taste like apples..." I muttered.
"Because I'm drinking apple juice!" She shouted at me.
"Right.....Don't tell anyone about this," I whispered.
"Whatever..." She shrugged.
