It was finally here... Marinette's birthday. And today, I was going to confess to her.

I stood in front of my mirror, making sure I looked good, and then checking to make sure I had the promise ring in my pocket. It was more than just a ring; it was a symbol of my promise to love and cherish her.

With a deep breath, I went downstairs to the backyard where the party was being set up. It was a small, intimate gathering with just our closest friends and her family. The decorations were simple yet elegant, with fairy lights strung around the trees and a table laden with her favourite treats. It was a surprise party, and Marinette wasn't here yet.

I heard the front door open, and my heart raced. I quickly ran inside to see her.

"Kanami! Oh, Bakugou! Where is everyone? Kanami said we'll go out for ice-"

I cut her off by gently grabbing her hand and leading her to a quiet, empty room.

"What's wrong?" she asked in a hushed voice. She looked stunning in a white dress with delicate floral designs, the soft fabric swaying with her movements.

"Come here," I said, pulling her closer, and feeling my heart pound in my chest.

She blushed, her eyes wide with curiosity and something else... hope, maybe?

"I... I wanted to confess something," I began, my voice trembling slightly. "Marinette, I've loved you for as long as I can remember. From the days we played in the park as kids to now, you've always been the one I looked for in a crowd. I didn't realize it back then, but every time you smiled, it felt like the sun had come out just for me. You've always been there, supporting me, believing in me, and making me want to be a better person. Please, be my girlfriend."

"Bakugou..." She whispered, tears welling up in her eyes, a radiant smile spreading across her face. "Yes, yes, I'll be your girlfriend."

She giggled and covered her face with her hands, trying to hide her happy tears. I gently took her wrists and moved them away so I could see her face.

"Don't cry," I murmured, my voice soft. "You're so beautiful."

I leaned in and kissed her forehead, feeling a warmth spread through me. Then, I pulled out the promise ring.

"And this is for you," I said, showing her the ring. "I promise to care for you and make you the happiest girl in the world."

"I love it," she said, slipping the ring onto her finger. She hugged me tightly, and I finally relaxed, holding her close in the embrace I had always longed for.

"Now, come on!" I said, taking her hand and leading her to the backyard.

"Surprise!" Everyone shouted, confetti flying into the air.

Marinette gasped, letting out a small cry of joy. "You guys are crazy!" She laughed, hugging Kanami tightly.

The party was a blur of laughter and joy. Marinette's eyes sparkled with happiness as she mingled with her friends and family, her smile never fading. We kept stealing glances at each other, sharing secret smiles and touches that sent shivers down my spine.

As the evening wore on, we found ourselves sitting on the porch swing, a little away from the crowd. The cool autumn breeze whispered through the leaves, and the fairy lights cast a warm glow around us.

"This is the best birthday ever," Marinette said, leaning her head on my shoulder.

"I'm glad," I replied, wrapping an arm around her. "You deserve it."

She looked up at me, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "I still can't believe this is real. That we're real."

I leaned down and kissed her softly, feeling her melt into me. "It's real, Mari. And I'm going to spend every day making sure you know just how much you mean to me."

We stayed like that for a while, wrapped in each other's arms, content to just be together. The party continued around us, but at that moment, it felt like it was just the two of us in the world.

As the night drew to a close, we rejoined the others, laughing and dancing until we were all exhausted. Marinette's happiness was infectious, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for this day, for the chance to finally tell her how I felt.

When it was time to go, Marinette hugged everyone, thanking them for the wonderful surprise. As we walked back inside, she turned to me, her eyes full of love.

"Thank you, Bakugou," she said softly. "For everything."

I smiled, taking her hand in mine. "Anything for you, Mari. Always."

And as we stood there, under the soft glow of the fairy lights, I knew that this was just the beginning of our story. A story of love, promises, and a lifetime of happiness together.

I drove Marinette back home, the hum of the engine and the soft rustle of the trees filling the comfortable silence between us. The night was calm, and the air was crisp, a perfect ending to an unforgettable day.

"Bakugou?" Marinette broke the silence, her voice soft and hesitant.

"Katsuki," I corrected, glancing at her with a small smile. "Call me Katsuki from now on, okay?"

She smiled back, a warmth spreading through her eyes. "Sure, Katsuki. Anyways, does Kanami know you confessed? How about your parents? You do know that I'm older than you, right? Would they be okay with that?" Her concerns were evident in her tone.

I reached over and took her hand, squeezing it gently. "They wouldn't care, it's fine. Kanami knows, and she's happy for us. As for my parents, they trust me. They know you're important to me."

She sighed, looking out the window for a moment before turning back to me. "It's just... there's a lot to consider. Our age difference, how people might perceive it... I don't want you to face any trouble because of me."

I parked the car outside her apartment building and turned to face her fully, my eyes locking with hers. "Marinette, none of that matters to me. You're the one I want to be with. I've waited too long to let anything get in the way now."

She looked down, biting her lip. "What about our plans for the future? You're still in high school, and I'm in university. How will we manage the time apart?"

I cupped her face in my hands, tilting her head up to meet my gaze. "We'll make it work. I'll be graduating soon, and then we can figure things out together. As long as we're honest with each other and keep communicating, we'll be fine. I promise."

Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, and she nodded. "Okay. I trust you, Katsuki."

I leaned in and pressed my lips to hers, a gentle kiss that conveyed all the love and promises I held for her. She responded softly, her hands coming up to rest on my shoulders. The world seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of us at that moment, connected by our hearts.

We pulled away slowly, both of us a little breathless. Marinette's cheeks were flushed, and her eyes sparkled with happiness. "I should go," she whispered, but her reluctance was clear.

I nodded, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Yeah. Get some rest. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"

"Okay," she agreed, opening the car door and stepping out. She turned back one last time, giving me a radiant smile. "Goodnight, Katsuki."

"Goodnight, Mari," I replied, watching her walk up to her apartment. She looked back once more before disappearing inside, leaving me with a smile on my face and a heart full of love.

As I drove away, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. We had a lot to figure out, but for the first time, I felt like everything was falling into place. Marinette was mine, and I was hers. Together, we could face anything that came our way.
