I woke up with my neck and back hurting so bad. Maybe sleeping on the couch wasn't such a good idea. Or sleeping over at a strangers house in general. "So Jacquelyn where are you staying at?" Chloe asks me as I open my eyes. My voice is groggy and pretty much gone. I assume I was screaming last night at some point.
"Umm, my car right now." I say to her.
"Your car, absolutely not. We have an extra bedroom here it just doesn't have a bed in it. You can stay here." Mia says. "You're too kind my love." Skylar says to Mia. They really are an adorable couple. I smile at that fact.
"It's really okay. I'll get my own place within the month. I just haven't found a place yet." I replied.
"I insist. You're staying here until you find a place. If it makes you feel better you can pay a little rent so you aren't poaching from us." Mia says with a big smile.
"Oh come on Jacquelyn. We really would like for you to stay! We all live here and it's always fun!" Chloe says as the guys walk into the room. "What's going on?" Jack asks. "We're trying to convince Jacquelyn to stay here until she finds her own place." Chloe says to him.
"Oh yeah you should it's awesome here. And the ladies love you. Plus you pulling Axel into the pool was hilarious. He needed that." Jack says laughing.
"Okay, okay I'll stay, but only until I find my own place and I'm paying some rent too." I say to them. The girls started hugging me telling me how excited they were. Axel on the other hand didn't look excited at all. "Wait; I need a bed though. Do any of you girls want to go shopping with me? And maybe borrow a truck from somebody?" I say laughing. "I'm sorry girl, we all have work later today. But Axel has a truck and he'd be happy to take you. Right Axel?"
He just walked out of the room rolling his eyes. I know he doesn't want to take me but I really do need a bed. "He'll be fine! We all have to get ready. Do you want some of my clothes to wear?" Mia says. I just nod my head yes and follow her to her room.
The girls have already left for work and I'm still getting ready. All of Mia's clothes are a little too skimpy so I'm trying to find something less provocative. The only thing I found was a low cut v neck long sleep body suit and a pair of white jeans with holes everywhere. I guess it'll have to do. I throw my long hair up into a ponytail and head down the stairs to find Axel.
"Are you finally ready?" He says looking down at his phone.
"Yep." I reply with grabbing my phone from the coffee table. He finally looks up at me and his eyes gloss over. "What, what's wrong? What did I do?" I say.
"What nothing. Let's go." He says not looking at me again just walking straight to the truck. I get into the truck with a little boost because of how short I am. I could see him smiling in my peripheral but don't engage it. Instead I decide to finally check my phone but it's dead. "Do you possibly have a charger in here?" I ask him. He doesn't reply just hands me one. I plug my phone in waiting for it to light up letting me know it's charged enough for me to get on it.
14 missed calls from Derek. 36 messages from him. And 4 voicemails. I decided to listen to the voicemails which were all basically the same. "I'm sorry baby I didn't mean it. Just come back I love you". By the time I got done with the last voicemail I get another incoming call from him. I answer it. "Stop calling me. I'm done okay. Take your raggedy ass to somebody else. My lawyer will be in touch." Is all I say before hanging up not letting him get a word in.
I then decide to call my lawyer really fast. "Hey Bonnie, I just wanted to let you know that I'm filing for divorce."
"Oh really. Sorry to hear that. What all do you want out of it?" She asks me.
"Just my car. He can have everything else." I say
"Really you can get a lot out of it if you.." I cut her off before she can finish. "I don't want anything from him Bonnie. I just want my car and to move on."
"Well okay then it'll probably be filed by tomorrow then I can send it over and have him sign it. It should be finalized by the end of the week."
"Thank you" I say as I hang up the phone. "Sorry. Usually I'm not on my phone this much. Just a lot going on." I say to Axel which he doesn't reply to me.
"I'm sorry you have to take me to go get a bed. I didn't mean to intrude on your day. I just really don't want to sleep on the ground." I say to him. Which he still doesn't answer to. It's just awkward silence.
"Why don't you like me?" I ask him finally after a few long minutes of silence.
"I never said I didn't like you." Axel responds.
"You just act like you do." I mumble.
"It's nothing against you. I just don't talk much is all. And when I do it's usually something rude. Don't take it personally." He says to me. Don't take it personally? If you know you're being rude then stop being rude, but whatever. I don't respond to him. We finally get to the store where I find a queen mattress and a queen comforter set. Along with pillow and hanger to hang up all the clothes in my car. We load everything up in the truck and it's silence all the way home. I guess I would call it home.
"I'll get the mattress out for you and put it upstairs." I wasn't going to question him because I know I don't have the strength to get it out. I go to my car and grab as much as I can to take inside. Finally carrying everything to my new room which I haven't even seen yet. It has a balcony with a little table outside. A walk in closet and its own bathroom. "Just so you know the bathroom we share. It's ajoined" Axel says. I'm too much in awe to even say anything. This room is huge and so beautiful. Maybe I don't ever want to leave. He puts the mattress down and I get to work.
Texting Skylar to make sure it's okay I decorate the place. I took a lot of my own decorations from the house before I left. I knew I would want some things from there. Like the pictures of my parents. The pictures I have drawn. My brat neon sign that I've had since I was little. I took my curtains and hung those up along with all of my clothes. It actually looks like somebody lives in here now. It looks like home to me. I put all my stuff into the bathroom. "J, here you can have this other nightstand I have no use for it." Axel says not waiting for a reply. Now the only thing I need is a vanity and a bed frame. I lay down on my bed not realizing that I fell asleep.
