When they went back out behind the temple and tried the sealing again, in the dark, Satiya could feel the magic begin to grow around the artifacts. She stopped them quickly, not wanting to harm someone or use up the sealing magic on a test if they went too far. Elated, Amisi took the paper, promising that she and Khait would practice and memorize the words.
It was getting late, and Satiya thought she would like to go to sleep soon but felt awkward with everyone still awake. The Priestesses were mostly in the outer chamber, encouraging the public to leave. Khait and Amisi were studying the magic words over some cereal in the dining room. The High Priestess said she saw Husani head for the room of cats. Satiya smiled, hoping he was trying to see the felines like she did. She thought he might be the most likely to be willing to call it a night, though, so she headed through the room with the three pedestals toward the cat-room.
"Hey, H-"
Husani rushed into the room with a finger to his lips, "Shh!"
"What?" Satiya whispered.
She heard a booming voice from the other room, maybe from the entry to the temple, "We have received word that there is an Angel in this temple."
Satiya and Husani looked at each other.
"The Order of the Night has laid claim to all Angels in Kemet. Send it out to us or we will come in and get it."
Khait, Amisi and the High Priestess all came rushing into the room from different directions, searching for Satiya and Husani.
"The society!" Amisi hissed.
"There are four men in the doorway, but I couldn't see if there are more outside," the Priestess whispered.
"Is there a back exit?" Amisi asked quietly.
The Priestess shook her head.
"You may have five minutes," the voice boomed.
"My magic has returned, I am sure I can defeat them," Satiya whispered.
"What if they have tranquilizers again? They got you last time," Khait countered quietly.
"I'll go," Husani declared quietly.
"What?! No!" Satiya objected after processing his statement.
"You said Kek is mad at you, now. We can't risk him getting a hold of you again or who knows what he will do!" Husani retorted.
"But you can't just... walk into their grasp!"
"I think I must," Husani said, turning and heading for the doorway.
"Wait! Don't!" Saitya started after him, but Khait and Amisi grabbed her by each arm and held her back.
"He's right!" Khait whispered.
"There is no other way!" Amisi cried softly.
"But-"
Husani walked into the main chamber of the temple and saw a line of Priestesses near the main doorway. Filling the entry were three men in robes, with a fourth behind them. The one in front, whom Husani assumed was the one with the loud voice and the leader of the band, was carrying a black handgun. The man to his right also held a gun, while the man on his left held handcuffs and two large black bands. Their hoods were up, and in the shadowy night, Husani couldn't see any features inside. It was creepy.
"Don't try to fly or we'll tranq ya," the leader said, voice no less loud even though Husani was only thirty feet away now.
Husani passed through the line of Priestesses, who gave him worried looks, and walked up to the robed men, stopping when the second man with a gun pointed it at him and commanded, "Stop right there."
