Chapter 2

After what feels like forever, we reach the survey corps headquarters. I look over at Shadow. He looks exhausted. I myself am worn out. It's all because I didn't sleep to keep guard. I'm so stupid. Nevertheless I grin under my mask, knowing we won't be under the gracious presence of the military police. Anywhere is better than that.

Me and Shadow follow the blonde guy, with that short man behind us. I think the other soldiers took the soldier I beat up to the infirmary. We enter a room which might be the blondie's office, considering the fact he just sat on the chair behind the huge table. There are two huge windows behind the chair, which let sunlight in. Around the table are a few chairs. Overall, decent interior. Man, I miss being rich.

"I am Erwin Smith, commander of the scouts. So why don't you two take a seat and we shall discuss what we'll do with you." It almost seems like he's going to toy us around like objects. Honestly though, isn't that what superiors do? Toy their soldiers around to get the work done. I try not to get pissed and sit, with one leg over the other. I may have surrendered, but that doesn't mean i respect this guy. Shadow looks too tired to even oppose. What a lousy guy...

"Firstly, I'd like to see your faces and know your actual names." Shadow instantly perks up. "No way!" He bangs his fist on the table. The short man is about to attack him but the blondie stops him. I give the shortie a glare from under my sunglasses. "Unless you do so, we won't be able to introduce you as normal soldiers. Please do understand," Erwin stated sternly. Me and Shadow look at eachother one last time before sighing.

One thing though, we don't even know eachothers face. So I guess there's a plus there? Im not too bothered but I know Shadow is. Is he insecure? Or is the mask just a part of him? Oh no, they'll know I'm a woman! "Brats why are you thinking for so long? Take the damn masks off already."

"Shut it shorty. Have patience." Shorty glared at my choice of words. Well, I did comment on his height openly. Not complaining though. He can make fun of me for being tall if he likes. I remove my face mask, then remove the hood I wear. Shadow does the same.

"Pride is a goddamn woman?" Levi states, trying to hide his surprise. I mockingly smile. "Why, i never told you I'm a man, did i?" Shadow tries hard not to laugh. We both stare at eachother and then the next minute we laugh our heads out. "What the hell is so funny here?" Levi's glare is back, and he is pissed.

"Your names, please," Erwin calmly asks, despite the fact that we both just laughed for absolutely nothing infront of superiors. Maybe he thinks we're crazy.

"Ezra Heinrich." That's Shadow's name? Heinrich..? I've heard it somewhere. Erwin looks at me.

"Azura Gojo," I say bluntly.

"Heinrich and Gojo, welcome to the survey corps. We shall test your skills before assigning you to a squad. Do know we have you under surveillance. We've assigned you separate rooms, please ask a cadet or follow the signs."

Me and Ezra nod. "You're supposed to salute, brats." I stick my tongue out at shorty saying, "Cry about it." Soon after that, we get kicked out. I look at Shadow, I mean Ezra and shrug. "So that's what you look like?" I tease Ezra. Ezra turns his head away, embarrassed. He has shoulder length hair and green eyes, making him resemble a cat in a way. It does makes sense, he's stealthy like a cat.

"Easy for you to say.." he mutters. I tilt my head in confusion. "What?" I question. "Oh don't look at me like you don't know! Your beauty is heavenly. I'm not the same. I'm weak too," Ezra whines. I knew it. He is insecure. I shake Ezra's shoulders. "You shouldn't be insecure of things that make you, yourself. Plus, I think you can be my pet kitty." With that last part Ezra looks at me like I just told I'm pregnant. How melodramatic. I sigh. "I meant, you have features like a cat, especially your eyes. They're quite pretty, I don't know why you're insecure. And your stealth is top notch."

"I know," Ezra says calmly. I hit him on the head. He lets out a squeal, like a girl. "Then why did I spend a few moments complimenting you for nothing!" I huff in annoyance. Ezra laughs at my childishness. Suddenly, the pain in my thigh increases. I bite my lip to prevent myself from wincing. I can't afford to appear weak. "I'm going to head to bed. Surely they'll try to test us alot tomorrow." I stand up, trying my best not to limp. "Goodbye, Gojo-san," Ezra waves me off. I push my sunglasses up a bit before giving him a goofy smile and leaving.

I head to my dorm room, barracks? Whatever they call it. Seeing the sign, it seems to be right on the left--

Crash

"Are you blind, brat?" A certain grumpy voice from a shortman makes me frown. Why'd i bump into him of all people? And moreover, this place has alot of turns. "I'm sorry, your royal highness. It won't happen again!" I say sarcastically with a grin. I can tell he's trying to not show how pissed off he is. I bite my lip again, the pain in my thigh is really starting to get intense. Hopefully this conversation ends fast, I can't hold out for too long.

"Tch, I'll make you clean the entire survey corps if you keep that attitude up. And one more thing," he trailed off. I ignore the first part, but he sounded a bit serious on the second one. "First thing tomorrow morning, you and that shadow brat are coming to the court."
"Pardon me, the court?" I sweatdrop a bit. "Are you scared?" He mocks. "It's not for you, it's for the custody of a titan brat called Eren Jaeger. You two need to be there so we can keep an eye on you. No funny business."

"No funny business," I repeat. A titan brat he says? Does that mean Jaeger can turn into a titan? How unfortunate... but whoever takes custody of him has quite the weapon. Reminds me of Yuji.. wait the bandages on my thigh, I hope they aren't too blood soaked. Am I zoning out?

I blink my eyes. The shorty is gone. Good riddance. Well, I hope I don't get anymore ridiculous flashbacks.. the older I get, the more i remember my previous life. It's so--

--tiring.

I'm going to sleep soundly today.
