"This is crazy." I chuckled.
"What?" He asked looking at me.
"I never thought that I would be chasing after a ball, signed by my grandfather, with nine other boys." I said looking back at him.
"Well we better hope that we can get that ball back." He said.
"Yeah, well I'll see you tomorrow." I said and pecked his cheek and ran into my house.
"Bye, love." He said and started jogging towards his house.
I walked in and I saw my dad leaning on the counter wiggling his eyebrows at me.
"What?" I asked and walked towards the fridge.
"Benny huh?" He said.
"Dad, don't." I said.
"Okay, okay, I won't I just wanted you to know I thought he was a good kid." He said defensively.
I slightly smiled at this and began to walk to my room.
"I'm going to bed. I'm going back to the sandlot at 8:00 tomorrow." I said running to my room.
Bennys pov
I was laying on my bed when everything started shaking and my lamp was flickering on and off.
I quickly stood up when my closet opened and said.
"Who's there?" I asked looking at my closet door.
Babe Ruth walked out of the closet.
"Don't go pee in your pants. I'm just here to give you a hand." Babe Ruth said as the color of him went from black and white to his skin color and clothes color.
"But-But your?" I started but he cut me off.
"Dead?" He asked putting the bat he had on the ground. "Legends never die, kid." He said.
"But your really him." I started. "You're the Babe. The sultan of swat. T-the king of-"
"Of crash, and a hundred other dopey nicknames." He said. "Forget about that stuff kid. We ain't got much time, I'm here cause you're in some kind of pickle. Right?" He said.
"Yeah." I nodded.
"A baseball with my John Hancock on it... went over a fence and you can't get it back, right?" He said.
"Yeah right." I said still a little shook about the fact that Babe Ruth was in my room with me.
"Then just hop over there and get it." He said beginning to walk over to the closet.
"Wait wait. I said and got his attention again. "I can't."
"Can't what?" He asked.
"I can't go into that backyard." I said sighing.
"Why not?" He asked.
"There's a beast back there." I said.
"What kind?" He asked.
"A giant gorilla-dog thing that ate one kid already." I said.
"Is that a fact?" He asked putting his cigar in his mouth and setting me down on my bed. "Sit down, kid. Sit down." He said. "My granddaughter... y/n... always said, that everybody gets one chance to do something great." He started. "Most people never take the chance, either cause they're too scared... or they don't recognize it when it spits on their shoes." He said. "This is your big chance. And you shouldn't let it go bye." He said. "But you also shouldn't do it alone." He said. "Y/n would be a good companion to work with." He said. "Remember when she busted the guys out of the ball the other day? Something's telling you both something kid, if I was you I'd listen. Because if I know my granddaughter she's going to jump that fence one time or another."
