Chapter 43: Double Knot

December 1st, 2:30pm

It's so cloudy and bland outside. So quiet. I've been cooped up in here for so long. Chan won't even let me go out on the balcony out of fear. I'm only able to go on the rooftop but I'm definitely not gonna walk all the way up there with all this back pain every day.

The sun's been setting earlier, the winter is dark and gloomy. I keep laid on the examination table, waiting for Seungmin to come back with the results. I didn't want to look at the screen during my ultrasound, just to keep the anticipation, so now he's printing out a picture after checking the gender of the baby.

I'm surprised he even has all this equipment. He has tons of different equipment for different things. But I guess that's what comes with being a certified doctor, even in the mafia.

If you're wondering why it's taking so long just to get this whole apocalypse resolved when it's quite literally already spreading to different areas in South Korea outside of Seoul, it's because the plan the group and TMT worked on hasn't started yet. Shelton hasn't been answering calls or emails. He hasn't even written back to letters, but I wonder who's ever delivering the letters within this dangerous state of South Korea. It's already been almost two months since the breakout, and still nothing has been resolved. I feel like having this baby would be so risky, but I can't really go back now.

Seungmin walks back inside the room, holding a small picture. I sit up slowly.

"So?"

He stands still in front of me and smiles, flipping the picture over so I can see. "You're having a girl."

I instantly grin, taking the photo as he hands it to me and looking at it. The picture of my baby in my tummy makes my heart melt. I feel overwhelmed with happiness. I'm glad I at least know I'm having a girl and that's why my pregnancy is a bit tougher.

Chan enters through the back door and closes it, locking it as well. He then presses the button that makes the metal door slide into place in front of the back door. I run over to him, not too fast of course, and hug him.

"Channie!"

The man before me opens his arms and lifts me up, holding me close. "Hey, sweetheart. Did you eat breakfast."

I nod my head.

"Good. What's that in your hand?" He nods to the ultrasound picture in my hand.

I lift it up for him to see, making his face light up in excitement and happiness.

"It's a girl!"

"It is!? Oh, I'm so happy!" He spins me around and laughs, making me laugh along with him, wrapping my arms around his neck to secure myself.

He sets me down gently on my feet and kisses my forehead before looking at the picture one more time.

"Gosh, I'm going to have two beautiful girls all to myself in 5 more months. I'm so happy."
