Weeks had passed with Y/N and I living with my family. Her tummy grew bigger day by day and I couldn't help but smother her in my clinginess whenever I was free. But, most of the time, I had to discuss issues and plans with the group. We were close to finding Shelton's location. Felix and Jeongin had been tracking down where Shelton is by using street camera footage of any cars that could be related to the RRS. Although, it wasn't much help.
Now that we know about Shelton's plan, there's no way he would contact us. If we could at least get our hands on a call from him, we would be able to track down his location. But it's almost impossible.
If we don't find Shelton soon, the vile would get released. One thing we found out about Shelton's plan is he's trying to make a more cruelly mutated version of the virus. This would make things much worse than it is... Seeing all those zombies in South Korea and the chaos and hysteria that was caused, I don't want it to happen here in my second homeland. Especially not when I have a pregnant girlfriend who's due in one month. Christ, I haven't even gotten to marry her yet.
I walk into the bedroom, placing the file in my hand onto the dresser before closing the door. I hear a shuffle under the blanket followed by a sneeze.
My head turns instinctively at the noise and I spot Y/N laying in bed, snuggled under the blanket, shifting second to second. It was so late, so I'm surprised she's still awake.
"Honey? Why are you awake?" I approach the bed with three long strides before sitting down on the edge, right beside her.
Her head tilts up and she looks up at me. "I'm cold."
"Cold? I thought you said this blanket was enough." I smile. She was always stubborn at first and then changed her mind later.
Y/N sneezes again and frowns, her eyes barely keeping awake yet also barely letting her sleep.
"Awe, poor baby. I'll go get you some more blankets, alright?" I pat her back before getting up, heading out of the bedroom and looking for some spare blankets.
I see my mum in the living room and decide to ask her.
"Eomma, are there spare blankets?"
My mum looks up with a gleeful smile on her face, clearly happy about the cold weather. She always loved when winter came around close, cheering when snow would fall. "Is Y/N cold?"
"Yeah, how'd you know?" I place my hands on my hips.
"I noticed she gets cold easily. Let me go get the big blanket I bought recently. It should keep you both warm for the night." My mum is quick to head to my parents' bedroom.
I wait around patiently, looking at our family pictures framed on the shelves and above the fireplace, watching what was playing on the TV, and listening to the clock on the wall ticking softly.
"Chris, I don't feel good."
Y/N's voice startles me from my quiet moment. I look up, seeing her come down the stairs, panting and holding onto her baby bump.
"What's wrong?" I can feel my heart beat a little faster out of anxiousness. I take a few steps towards the stairs and help her down the last step before giving her support with one hand on her back.
Y/N rubs her baby bump and I look down at the round shape.
"What? Something wrong? Does it hurt?"
"No... It just feels weird..."
"What do you mean?" I scratch the back of my head with my hand, confused.
My mum's footsteps returning interrupts us and we both look in her direction. She had a big smile on her face as she held up the pink blanket with white hearts all over.
"Here it is!" Then she spots Y/N and notices the distressed expression on her face. "Y/N? What's wrong, sweetie? Why're you down here? You should be resting."
"She feels weird, mum."
"Weird? How so?"
Then the trickling of liquid makes all three of us look down at Y/N's white slippers, clear liquid pooling around her on the floor. Her water broke.
"What!? I'm a month early!" Y/N starts to panic, shaking her hands up and down.
"Baby, it's okay! Eomma, please get the hospital bag upstairs. I'll take her to the car."
My mum nods and heads upstairs quickly despite her age. I quickly lift my girl into my arms and grab the keys from the coffee table, speed walking to the corridor and slipping my shoes on. My hand fumbles with the doorknob before finally opening the door and rushing Y/N out of the house to the car.
