Chapter Six: Into the Madness

The thing about life is that most things along the way are unexpected. Sometimes there is an exciting surprise behind all this, yet none said the journey will not turn into a ride full of unpredicted and non likeable events. It is a fear people have nowadays. And how can you blame them after everything life has planned for us all?

Who could've thought that your best friend, your sister, your lover would have turned into someone you cannot recognize anymore.

Who could've thought that the hole you carry with you was created by the one you loved the most, or that the ghost which is haunting you is someone very close to you.

I can confirm that our heroes never expected this to happen. And they never prepared themselves.

The other night everyone slept to Nancy's basement too scared of what might happen if they split and return their houses. Elvira is everywhere and everyone, these days when they have a choice to stick together they always do. A noise from the radio tries to wake them up.

"Hey Dustin, Mariya, this is Eddie the Banished. You there?" Eddie calls but no one listens "Guys, can you hear me? Dustin? Mariya? Earth to Dustin" He finally shouts through the radio making Mariya wake up and grab the radio to speak to him.

"Hey, it's Mariya" She says.

"Mariya! Hey, um, I'm gonna need a food delivery, like, really soon, unless you want me going out into the world"

"No. No, no, no. Don't do that, please for the love of God stay where you are, and we'll be there as soon as we can" Mariya demands.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen, um can you pick me up a six-pack? I know, it's stupid as shit, drinking right now, but a cold beer would really calm my jangled nerves" Eddie asks.

"Yes, we will. I might need it as well" Mariya says.

"You are not allowed to drink" Eddie tells her.

"Well, neither are you but here we are"

"Then we must definitely forget last October" Eddie says and Mariya cracks a smile "How are you?"

"We are trying, I don't know, I think I'm slowly giving up" She says.

"Did you find Elvira?" Eddie asks.

"We did and I wish we hadn't"

Eddie sighs deeply, thinking of what to say to make her feel better "I'm pretty sure we'll handle it"

Mariya looks around and notices that Max isn't around them. She starts to panic and closes the radio in Eddie's face "Hey, I'm gonna have to call you back"

"No, don't you da- Hopper? Mariya?" Eddie shouts.

"Dustin!" Mariya shakes him "Wake up!"

"What?" He asks.

"Aren't you supposed to be on Max watch?"

"Yep. Yep, yep, yes. Sorry"

"Then where is she?" Mariya asks him.

"She's right there. A second ago" Dustin looks at the couch Max was sleeping, only to find it empty "I swear, I just dozed off for... an hour" He says and Mariya goes to Nancy.

"Nancy? Nancy?"

"What is it? Everything alright?" Nancy asks.

"Max is not here" Mariya tells her.

Nancy quickly gets up and makes her way upstairs with Mariya and Dustin right behind her. The three of them calm down after they see her sitting in the kitchen, listening to music and drawing.
