As Akriti read the text from Raj, a smile spread across her face. He had reached the airport safely and asked if Buaji had caused any trouble.
"Reached the airport. Did Buaji create any mess?" he asked her as he knew what buaji was capable of,
"Yes, she did, but I handled her." Akriti replied with a confident smirk,
"Good to hear." Raj replied as he knew what Akriti was capable of as well
"Text me after you land. Safe journey!" Akriti texted him and turned her phone off.
Feeling a bit more at ease, Akriti turned her attention back to her work. She had a lot to catch up on, and the next five hours flew by as she immersed herself in her tasks. As the evening progressed, she became increasingly frustrated with an emergency situation that demanded her presence at the office. She looked at the clock—it was already 6 PM, and she realized she had skipped lunch entirely. Now, she had this problem to deal with, and she hated every bit of it.
"Akriti beta, what happened? You seem very stressed." Her mother-in-law, Padma, noticed her frustration and came into the room.
Akriti sighed and looked up from her laptop. "There's an emergency at the office. I need to go in, but I'm already behind on so much. And I completely forgot to have lunch."
Padma placed a comforting hand on Akriti's shoulder. "Go to the office and take care of the emergency. If it gets late, I'll send dinner over to you. Don't worry about us here."
"Thank you, Ma. I'll try to be back as soon as possible," Akriti said, grateful for the support.
With renewed determination, Akriti gathered her things and headed to the office. The drive gave her a bit of time to collect her thoughts and prepare for the challenges ahead. As she walked into her office, she was greeted by the sight of a flurry of activity. Her team was working hard, but the tension was palpable.Akriti's Outfit
She quickly took charge, assessing the situation and delegating tasks. The problem turned out to be a critical issue with a major client's project that required immediate attention. Akriti's presence brought a sense of calm to the chaos. She worked alongside her team, providing guidance and making crucial decisions to resolve the issue.
As the hours passed, the problem was gradually brought under control. True to her word, Padma had dinner sent over, and Akriti took a brief break to eat. The gesture touched her, reminding her of the supportive family she had married into.
By the time Akriti wrapped up the emergency, it was late into the night. She finally allowed herself a moment to breathe, reflecting on the day's events. Despite the challenges, she felt a sense of accomplishment. She had handled Buaji's negativity, managed a work crisis, and received unexpected support from her mother-in-law.
Just as she was about to leave the office, her phone buzzed with a text from Raj.
"Just landed. How are things on your end?" Raj texted her as he got to know about the situation in her office from Tejas.
"Busy day, but everything's under control now. Had to deal with an emergency at the office. How was your flight?" She texted him telling him about her day as she wanted to have a little conversation with him.
"Long but good. I knew you would handle everything, Tejas told me about it." Raj said out of proud feeling.
"Tejas told you, okkk. So my husband is keeping tabs on me??" Akriti asked in a funny way so as to tease him,
"NO no no no, believe me it was just I called him for some work and he told me that you went to office and about the emergency, I wasn't keeping tabs on you, Reallyyyyyy!!" Raj typed as fast as he could so as to not keep her angry and clear things with her.
"Hey hey hey, just kidding, your such a baby." Akriti said with a few laughing emoji's.
"Ohh, thank god, by the way take some rest you had a long day." Raj typed sadly but he knew that she was tired so it was best to do this right now.
"Will do. You too. Bbyee" Akriti also texted him feeling a little sad.
Feeling a bit lighter, Akriti drove back home, exhausted but content. She knew the journey ahead with Raj would have its ups and downs, but she felt more confident in her ability to handle whatever came their way.
As she entered the house, she was surprised to see the entire family waiting for her. She thought they shouldn't have stayed up, as it was already 3 AM. However, her thoughts were interrupted by Buaji's furious glare.
"Kaha se aa rahi hai Maharani ji itni raat ko aur aise kapdo main? Kuch sharam hai ya nahi?" Buaji's voice was sharp and accusatory.
Akriti, keeping her composure, replied calmly, "Office se."
Buaji's eyes widened with indignation. "Kaunsa office itni raat ko khula hota hai? Aur kaun worker itni der tak rukta hai? Sach sach batao, kis aadmi ke saath thi?"
Everyone gasped at Buaji's insinuation. Mohit's voice boomed, "Didi, aap kya keh rahi hain? Yeh kaisi baatein kar rahi hain?"
Buaji stared at Mohit, silencing him. The tension in the room was palpable. Akriti, her frustration mounting, marched towards Buaji.
In a calm but firm voice, Akriti said, "Buaji, mere office ke workers itni raat tak kaam karte hain, unlike some people who are just burdens on this family. Aur raat ko late rukne ki baat, mujhe bahut kaam tha kyunki main duniya ke sabse bade aur izzatdar company ki CEO hoon, lagbhag Singhania Group of Industries ke barabar. Aur haan, aapke doosre sawaal ka jawaab, main apne assistant ke saath thi aur 12 baje tak to Tejas bhi mere saath tha kyunki mera khana wahi laya tha. Aapka aur mera charitra alag hai Buaji, toh humari tulna mat kariye, theek hai?"
With that, Akriti turned and headed to her room, her frustration evident. The family watched her go in stunned silence, the weight of her words hanging heavily in the air.
