Chapter 2 - The Diner

It was the next morning. I went to have breakfast with everyone at the hotel. I noticed Fuyuhiko and Nagito were missing. I asked if anyone knew where they were. Peko said that Fuyuhiko didn't want to go to breakfast, which was believable. But, Nekomaru and Kazuichi gave suspicious answers about Nagito's whereabouts. Kazuichi even called him a creep. We then learned about a new island being opened up, so we all left the restaurant to go explore.

At the new island, there was a diner, another beach, a pharmacy, and a library. There were also some strange ruins. I thought the diner or the private beach would be great places to have my date with Nagito. I decided to check out the diner and see what it looked like.

It was a cute little restaurant with traditional diner decorations. I sat down at one of the tables and stared at the parking lot. I saw Hajime approaching the diner. He walked in, and we made eye contact.

"Oh hey," he said. "Didn't expect to see you here."

"Hey Hajime, I was just checking out the diner. I think it's a really cute spot."

"Do you mind if I sit with you?"

"Oh, um of course not! Go ahead." He sat across from me and started blushing. He quickly turned his head and faced the window.

"How're you doing?" he asked.

"Could be better," I said.

There was an awkward silence.

"Um... so I don't know if this is weird or not, but I've really enjoyed spending time with you and getting to know you. Would you... oh man how do I say this? Would you... wanna go out sometime?"

I was taken aback. Not just one, but two guys were interested in me? Impossible.

"Like actually? You're not making a joke, right?"

He turned his head and made eye contact with me. "I-I'm not joking, I'm serious. I wanna... I wanna go out with you."

I felt my face start to heat up. "But another guy asked me out as well, am I able to say yes to two guys at once?"

Hajime paused for a moment. "I think so. You're not committed to that guy, right?"

"No, we haven't even gone on our date yet."

"I think it's fine."

I smiled. "Well, ok then! I'd love to!"

"...I have to ask, who is it?"

I didn't know if I wanted to answer this, but I did so anyway. "It's Nagito. He asked me last night."

"Nagito, hm? I'm gonna be honest here: he's a wildcard and a bit of a creep. You should probably stay away from him."

"But I already said yes. I don't wanna back down on my commitment. Plus, I'm a bit interested."

"Well, if you insist. Don't say I didn't warn you." Hajime paused. "I can promise you this: I'll give you a better dating experience than that guy could ever give you."

I felt butterflies in my stomach. He wanted to give me a great date experience. Hajime seemed really sweet.

"I'm gonna look around the rest of the island," he said. "Wanna come with me?"
