Chapter 4 - Learn Together

I walked to get breakfast, and I was the last to arrive. I tried to say good morning to everyone that I could. Then, I realized I had a dilemma. Hajime, Kazuichi, and Gundham were all looking at me, likely hoping that I would talk to them or sit with them. I didn't know what to do...

"Morning," Hajime said. "Wanna sit with me?"

I sighed a sigh of relied. "S-"

"Hold on! I was gonna ask her if she wanted to sit with me!" Kazuichi interrupted.

"Back off, mere mortals. My dark mistress will sit with me," Gundham commanded.

"I... I don't know who to sit with. How about... we all sit together?" I suggested.

"Hmph, as you wish."

"I guess so."

"Sure thing."

They gathered at the same table, but debated who would get to sit next to me. I told them I would sit next to Hajime, as he invited me first.

"Ok, then I call dibs to sit next to you next time!" Kazuichi said.

"You will sit next to me the following time," Gundham said.

"Guess that settles it," I said, relieved.

I sat down next to Hajime, and I tried to engage with them all in a nice conversation. However, it was a little difficult to balance everything. Kazuichi and Gundham said their farewells and cleaned up their spots. Hajime kindly offered to take my tray and clean up for me, which I accepted. He sat back down to talk to me.

"Did you... wanna have our date today?" Hajime asked.

"I don't think I have anything planned for today, so yeah that would be great!"

"Great!" He stood up, and I soon followed. He pushed in both of our chairs and held his hand out. The way he looked at me, it was a look full of nervousness and excitement. I placed my hand into his, feeling my face heat up.

We walked out of the restaurant, and held hands as we strolled around the island. We stopped by the beach and stood in the shallow part of the water. Hajime rolled up his pants so that they wouldn't get wet. Luckily, I was wearing shorts, so I didn't have to worry about that. After a while having fun splashing around, we decided to go get towels from Rocketpunch Market. We also picked up some snacks to eat together. We went back to the beach, fully equipped.

"This has been so much fun! Thanks for this, Hajime."

"No problem!" he said with a smile. That smile of his... it was magnetizing. We were sitting on a beach towel together. I could tell he was slowly creeping his way closer to me. Eventually, he worked up the courage to put his arm around me. I got very nervous, as this was the first time a guy had ever done this with me.

"Hajime... have you ever been on a date before?"

"I haven't, why?"

"Well, this is my first ever date," I said, "and I don't really know how it's supposed to go, but I think it's going well. I'm enjoying it a lot. And..." I got nervous, but I pushed ahead. "I think it's cool how you just put your arm around me. I don't know if 'cool' is the right word for that." Hajime chuckled. I continued. "Well I just think it's... it's really cool that you like me enough to wanna put your arm around me. I've never had a guy do that before."

"Really? But you're an amazing girl, any guy would be lucky to have you."

"Actually?"

"Seriously, I mean it. And I'm glad you think it's cool I put my arm around you. To be honest, I got a bit nervous. I don't really know how to make moves on girls."

"I don't know how to make moves either!"

"I guess we can learn together," he said, smiling. He held me closer and tighter, and I nestled my head on his shoulder as we stared at the waves.

It was dinner time, and I volunteered to feed Nagito. I was spending a lot of free time and meals with the other guys that I felt like it was only right to visit him. He was still tied up in the old hotel.

I opened the door and saw him lying there, fatigued, greasy, and sad. When he saw me, he perked up.

"Well, if it isn't my favorite girl, how've you been?"

"I've been good." I giggled.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing~"

"Something's up, you better fess up."

"Well... I went on a date with Hajime today and it was really fun~"

"What? How could you say that to me? You went on a date with another guy?"

"I asked Hajime about that since he asked me out after you did, and he said that it's totally ok as long as I'm not committed to you already."

"Tch, he probably just wanted you all to himself. I'm pretty upset, you know. I asked you out first, then you go behind my back and go out with another guy."

"Actually... two more guys asked to go on dates with me."

"What?!"

"It was Kazuichi and Gundham. Honestly, I'm genuinely shocked that anyone wants to go out with me..."

"They're just trying to steal you from me. I wanna make you all mine."

"But... I'm not committing to anyone just yet..."

Nagito sighed. "If that's how it is, then."

We sat in silence for a moment. "So... we have curry tonight." I held up the tray, and got a spoonful ready. "Here comes the airplane." I fed Nagito his dinner, making sure not to bring up the dating situation for the rest of the time.
