Chapter 5 - Bouquet

This morning, it was Kazuichi's turn to sit next to me. He put his arm around the back of my chair, not quite touching me, but it was close enough to where I felt my face heat up.

"So even though I'd love to ride a motorcycle, I'd just puke everywhere!" Kazuichi said.

"Haha really? So I guess rollercoasters and stuff like that are out of the question?" I asked.

"Definitely for sure."

"Hey um..." Hajime started. "I'm gonna head out."

"I shall depart as well," Gundham said.

"Ok, I'll see you guys later!" I waved and gave them a big smile. In the back of my mind, Nagito's words echoed. I asked you out first, then you go behind my back and go out with another guy.

"Hey, are you ok?" Kazuichi asked.

"Hm? Yeah I'm fine. I was just... uh wondering if you wanted to have our date today or if you were busy."

"Shoot! I actually made plans with Hajime to go to the private beach!"

"It's totally ok! We can have our date another time. How about tomorrow?"

He paused. "Yeah, I think that works out. And if not, then I'll definitely clear my schedule for you!"

"Wow really? Thank you!"

He blushed and rubbed the back of his head. "Heheh, no problem." We walked out of the restaurant, with Kazuichi holding the door for me as I exited. It made me giggle a little.

I woke up in a cold sweat. I dreamt about Peko's execution and Fuyuhiko's beaten up, bloody state. I wondered if he was ok...

I limped out of my bed, not wanting to go to breakfast. But, I knew there were four guys waiting for me there: Nagito, Hajime, Kazuichi, and Gundham. They all probably wanted to see me. I opened the door and I saw Kazuichi stood there, looking like a deer in headlights. He held some freshly picked tropical flowers in his hands, looking like a sloppy bouquet of sorts.

"G-Good morning, I'm here to take you out on our date!" Kazuichi said, sounding very nervous.

"Kazuichi, hi there! Is that... a bouquet of flowers for me?"

"Y-Yes!" He shoved them into my hands.

"Wow, it's beautiful, thank you! I'll wrap them in a damp towel for now, then find a vase for them later." I went back inside my cottage to do just that. "Would we actually be able to start the date after breakfast? I'd feel bad if I didn't sit next to the other guys and talk to them. It's Gundham's day to sit next to me, haha."

"Aw who cares about what they want? I just... really wanna take you out."

"Kazuichi, I need to be considerate of everyone's feelings, not just yours."

"Fine, fine. But I'm gonna sit across from you."

"You're totally free to do that. I don't know how the other guys will react, though."

We eventually made it to the restaurant. Gundham was sat next to an empty chair, and he tapped it, gesturing for you to sit down.

"Good morning, my dark mistress," Gundham said.

"Aww, how come I don't get to sit next to her?" Nagito said. "After all, I've been tied up for days, don't I deserve to sit next to her?"

"Shut the hell up!" Kazuichi said. "We have an order whether you like it or not, creep!"

"'Creep?' Wow, that's pretty harsh." Nagito turned to me. "You don't think I'm a creep, do you?"

I felt everyone's eyes land on me. "I-I-I wouldn't say you're a creep, I feel like that's a little mean."

"I'd call him a creep..." Hajime mumbled.

"Well, you know what's mean?" Nagito said, "Leading four guys on at once." I froze. The other guys looked at me, concerned. "You didn't tell them? Wow." He looked around and told them the truth. "She's planning on going out with all of us at the same time. Such a pain, I wish she'd just choose one of us already."

"W-Wait! We haven't had our date yet! She can't choose just yet!" Kazuichi said.

"Neither have we," Gundham said.

"...I'm sorry," I said. "I've never been asked out like this before. I didn't wanna say no to any of you and hurt your feelings. Plus, you're all... really cute."

"C-Cute?"

"Did she just call me cute?"

"My dark mistress..."

"Cute?"

"I didn't wanna reject any of you. You're all very sweet and genuine. I don't wanna hurt any of you, so if any of you guys wanna stop this, I'm willing to do that."

"No way!"

"Not happening."

"I wanna keep dating you!"

"I don't wanna stop..."

I was honestly a bit shocked they wanted to keep up with my antics. "Well, I'm shocked but I'm really happy. You... you won't regret it!"

We all finished breakfast on a more peaceful note, then it was time for my date with Kazuichi.

"Kazuichi, look! The third island is open!"

"Alright! Let's go explore it!"

We decided we would spend the first part of our date exploring this new island. We saw a hospital, a music venue, a motel, and something that caught Kazuichi's eye: Electric Avenue.

We decided to go there, and he acted like a child in a candy stop. "Wow, look! Computers, phones, look at all this hardware! I've been dying to take apart some machines." He picked up a laptop and started examining it. "Sorry, I know now's not the time to do this..."

"Well, you've been dying to do it, so why not?"

"But... it'll ruin our date!"

"I don't think it will. If we do it together as a fun activity, I think it could work!"

Kazuichi had a huge grin and his eyes sparkled. "Wow really? No one's ever really suggested something like that! Alright, let's do it!"

We spent some time dismantling a laptop. I tried taking out some parts, worried that I might damage something. Kazuichi assured me that I would be fine. He was able to tell me about every part that we came across and what it was used for. It was fascinating seeing someone so passionate about machines talk about their them. He sounded so smart. Eventually, we stopped taking apart the computer and just talked while sitting in the middle of Electric Avenue. We had a good conversation and some good laughs.

"You're really fun to be with, you know?" Kazuichi said.

"I am?"

"Hell yeah you are!"

Eventually, we placed the torn apart computer and its parts in a box, and left Electric Avenue. While walking back, Kazuichi moved a bit closer to me, and our hands brushed against each other. He made a move and wrapped a finger around one of mine. Our hands eventually interlocked, and we walked the whole way back with our hands together.

After the date concluded, I went to Rocketpunch Market to find a vase. I couldn't find one, so I grabbed a drink, emptied out the bottle, and put some water in it. I then placed the flowers in it. They were a cute reminder of the cute guy I went on a wonderful date with.
