~He is alive~

3rd person POV

Jieun entered her father's office after knocking three times on the door.

"Yes, baby. What happened?" Mark asked endearingly of his daughter. He was sitting with Ara's mom in the meeting area of his office. "Dad, I forgot my laptop here earlier. I came to get it back." She answered with a smile.

"Okay. Take it," he said.

She moves around the table and puts her phone on the chair where her laptop was before. She put it down on the chair screen facing down the surface while her father and Stella were discussing Ara's short-term amnesia symptoms.

"Dad, I will be back in the evening."

She informed his father and looked at her aunt, saying, "And don't worry Aunty; she'll be fine. You don't have to worry too much; you'll get yourself sick. Okay? I'll take care of your daughter, so you should take care of my aunt." Jieun tried to put a smile on their sad faces.

"Okay, dear, I will. Get home safe." Her aunt replied with a smile. At least she smiled, Jieun thought to herself.

Jieun left the room, and both adults started to talk again.

"She is so sweet," Stella said, looking in the direction her niece went.

"And clever!" Mark replied silently.

"What?"

"Nothing; let's continue."

"So, as I was saying, her symptoms are nothing to worry about. She'll be fine even if she doesn't remember anything about the accident."

"So that's a good thing, right?" Stella is confused because if her daughter is gonna be fine, then why does Mark seem tense?

"Oh, yeah, it is. Sure, it is. BUT...." He hesitated.

"But what?" She was getting anxious, which was an understatement.

"But she doesn't remember what happened there, and the reports are so clean." Doctor said.

Stella is getting impatient with every word her brother-in-law is saying. She asked, "Can you not beat around the bush, Mark? Just tell me what is wrong with my daughter being completely fine, please."

She is scared of what his next words will be. She is scared of the inevitable. She is scared of something that is bound to happen. So the next words said by Mark were so blunt.

"What is there to explain? You know what it means. Is there really a need for me to say it? He is back," he took a long pause before continuing, "and they have already met."

"Don't utter nonsense just because you cannot explain a medical situation." She knows she is being rude. She knows Mark is a diligent, hard-working, and reputable surgeon. She knows Mark is anything but a narcissist.

"Don't judge my medical qualifications, Stella. You know more than anyone that I do not bluff. You know better than that, dear sister-in-law." He said it in a warning tone. He tried to calm himself.

"And I've already explained her condition medically. But the truth isn't always what we see. They have already met." Mark had a proud look on his face, unbeknownst to him. "He might've blocked her that particular memory about him. That is the only explanation I have for this case. Medically or non-medically." He said this while moving around the table, opening his office window, and looking in the direction of the vast forest.

"And you very well know it is possible."

"And you know, we made sure back then that he didn't come back, Mark. He can't come back. He can't." Stella said, looking at his back.
