Wake up

You can handle the rain but not a tempest,
An ocean at its wildest,
You can take on a drizzle, but not a heaven sent torrential downpour.

You prefer easy, breezy, simple, and quick,
Because working too hard for something worth more than just a body is exhausting,
Striking as the easy may be, you'll find no challenge or power, only the steady.

Looking at what's on offer and grabbing the first thing you see is a rookie mistake,
Do you know what you even want, or are you just guessing and hoping for the best?
Were you born obvious and predictable, or do you practice?

Stop looking for happiness and success in the obvious choice,
You'll find the outcomes the same as the last,
Were you pleased with it? Was it everything you hoped for?
Would have the last one ended if it was?

Dumb bleeding heart, where is your head, your mind?
Are you really so easily won?
You're wasting your time, you're flying too close,
Have you no understanding of Icarus?
What is going on in that head of yours?

You're fantasy driven wearing rose coloured glasses,
Seeing everything in a pink and deceiving hue,
Take them off and look, really look!
Don't flirt with fantasy because it's easy,
Dazzle the unknown because it's scary because it's strange and new,
Because it's outside the norm.

Wake up, stop daydreaming, see what you're aiming for,
If you shoot for the moon, you will always hit the mark,
So shoot for the stars and go with it,
Whichever one you hit will shine for you,
They'll guide you towards home and even better, they'll make you one.

Do you get the picture? Are you understanding my point?
Don't settle for what is easy and makes sense. Reach beyond and hold out your hand,
And trust yourself and that you're gonna find the world you've been waiting for,
I promise they'll reach back and hold you.
