~HAZEL~

I was in a hotel room, lying helplessly as my eyes slowly opened. Sitting right next to me was Asher, his arms crossed and a scowl on his face.

"What..what happened?" That was the first thing I asked as I looked beneath the sheets to make sure that we didn't do anything in my unconscious state.

"You didn't think I saved you from those two rapists just to do the same thing, did you?" He returned the question with a flat tone as I adjusted into a seated position.

"You fainted," he added curtly. "You just couldn't handle a little bit of work without collapsing. It was shopping, every girl's favorite hobby."

His expression slowly turned accusatory. "Except you've gotten pregnant for one of my brothers already."

The feeling of dizziness immediately vanished as a wave of anger washed over me. "Maybe you have suddenly forgotten that this happened because of you."

"I have been overworking myself because of your insatiable nature. Hazel did that, Hazel did this."
I mimicked his masculine voice, and he snorted.

"It's not my fault that your parents didn't put you through."

"You're an omega, and unless heaven shines upon you with mercy, you'll work till death comes."

"And you had better start thinking of how to get rid of that baby in you because none of them are going to keep it."

Could he just shut up?!

"I'm not pregnant, okay? It's not like you called in a doctor to check up on me, and he confirmed such reports." I retorted.

"And what if I did? Don't give me that bullshit that you have been stressed!"

"The only thing you have been extra at is hopping different dicks daily like a pack's whore!"

"You're no different from them because you still fuck me, or you're just angry that you have to share me with other men when you are in a committed relationship!" I spat out.

A brooding glare shadowed his face as he swiftly pounced on the bed, his brows knit in a fierce scowl, and he pinned me down with a commanding grip. "Talk to me like that again, and I'll teach you manners."

"All you have done all day is chase men away from me, like I am your prize."

With a tight jaw and flashing gaze of fury, he released a mirthless laughter: "You must be fucking delusional to think that I would let other men touch a property that my father spent so much money on for free!"

My face scrunched up with a pouting mouth before replying, "You know something, Asher, I'd be the happiest person at your coronation because I can't wait for you to leave."

That sardonic smile rented his features again, and he responded, "Stupid of you to think that I would leave for Tyler and Zane to have."

"You've got no reason for us to be together!" I lashed back.

"Exactly, but my Luna would need your services, and I might too during cold nights." He grasped my hair, angling his face towards me as my mouth fell open.

"Why are you doing this to me, Asher? It's not right, and you never liked me; why this sudden obsession?" I queried.

I wanted to know what was going on in his head. This was some sick game, and I was too weak to be part of it. I had wanted him once, but he was a freaking danger sign, and I wasn't ready to be burned alive for him by his girlfriend.

"Get a grip on yourself; I can never be obsessed with a woman."

"Then what are you doing? Using me to chase away your girlfriend?"

"Maybe." He shrugged, smiling like a maniac again.

"Man up and break up with her."

"You think I haven't done that?"

"I don't care, Asher; I will not fake date you."
I was really jumping steps here and would end up with a broken ankle and heart soonest.

"Nobody said a thing about that; I don't just want to end up with a nagging woman for Luna." He confessed, making my heart drum that they could be a chance for us.

But what was his point? High-ranking wolves always made sure that their children married each other for alliance, and they would get nothing out of a poor omega.

"That's your problem to handle, not mine."

"Can you get off me?"

Just as he pulled away, his phone rang, and my hands started to shake as there could be only one person who could call him right now.

"What's up, man?"

"Are you back at the academy yet?"

"No, but Hazel and I would be heading back there in a couple of minutes."

It was already 8 p.m., and the event was to start by 9 p.m. I wasn't sure what magic he planned on using to get dressed, but I wanted to have it.

"Can I speak to her?" I heard his request over the phone, and Asher handed it to me before heading into the bathroom.

"Hey,"

"Hey." I replied nervously.

"Has he been a pain in the ass to you?" He went straight forward with his interrogation.

I swallowed, caught between telling him the truth and causing a fight between brothers or lying to be tortured further by Asher. "No, he has been on his best behavior."

"When will you be coming?"

"An hour after the opening, I can't wait to see you; send me pictures."

"I don't have a phone, Zane." I reminded him.

"Oh, I'd be early regardless." He said, and we had a little talk before the call ended.

I figured out that we would have to dress up and arrive together at the ball, and that thought made me want to melt into the cold walls.

I waited for him to get out and dressed before doing the same.

And when he did, he just couldn't hide his irritation. "Lying to him? What is he going to do when he finds out? Beat me up." He scoffed, wearing his sleeve.

"Let me do you a favor and set you free."
"So you won't keep fighting when your body clearly doesn't want him."

I knew what he wanted to tell me, and I had to beat him to it for fear of rejection: "Stay away from me, Asher." I said.

"It's a good thing we are on the same page because I won't be part of those stupid clients that fuck a dirty whore."

A broken, devastated expression with a wide-eyed stare and dropped jaw was sent to him before I regathered myself with a crushed smile and said, "Neither do I want to have anything to do with a hot head."

As I turned my back against him, I heard him step towards the door, and he stormed out, leaving me all by myself like last time.

But the only difference was that he wouldn't come back.
