As the evening crept in, I found myself sitting by the window, watching the orange hue of the setting sun cast a warm glow on the academy grounds. My mind was still fixated on the drama that had occurred earlier in the laundry room, and the harsh words that Asher had directed at me.
I couldn't shake off the feeling of shame and humiliation that had consumed me since then. It wasn't just Asher's words that stung, but also the fact that he had never bothered to apologise or show any sign of remorse for his behaviour.
As I sat there lost in thought, my mind drifted back to the past, to the day my parents had sold me off to the academy. They had betrayed me, using my status as an omega for their own selfish gain. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be in this situation, being yelled at and belittled by arrogant alphas like Asher.
The sound of the door opening interrupted my thoughts, and I turned to see who it was.
As Zane entered the room, his eyes immediately fell on me, and he walked towards me with concern etched on his face.
"Hazel, are you doing okay?" he asked, his voice laced with worry.
I forced a small smile on my lips, grateful for his presence. "I'm fine, Zane. Just lost in thought," I replied.
He took a seat next to me, his body close to mine. The warmth radiating from his body felt comforting, and I leaned into him, relishing in the feeling of his strong arms around me.
"Would you like to go for a swim? It might help clear your mind," he suggested.
I hesitated for a moment, not sure if I was up for it, but the idea of being in the water was tempting. "Okay, that sounds nice," I said, looking up at him with a small smile.
Zane led me to the pool, the water glimmering under the soft glow of the moon. I stood at the edge of the pool, hesitant to take off my clothes in front of him. But Zane didn't seem to mind, he stripped down to his swim shorts without a second thought, his chiselled abs and muscular arms on full display.
He dove into the pool, the sound of the water splashing around him. I couldn't help but admire the way his body moved, powerful and graceful at the same time.
"You coming in?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
I hesitated for a moment before nodding, pulling off my clothes and revealing my own swimsuit. I waded into the water, feeling the coolness of the pool against my skin. We swam around the pool, the tension between us growing with every touch and every gaze.
As we floated in the pool, Zane's eyes lingered on me in a way that made my heart race. I felt exposed and vulnerable under his intense gaze, but at the same time, a rush of excitement coursed through my body.
Zane's hand brushed against my thigh, sending a jolt of electricity through me. I couldn't help but let out a small gasp, the intensity of the moment almost too much to handle.
His gaze locked onto mine, his eyes dark with desire. "You have the most mesmerising eyes I've ever seen," he said in a low, husky voice. "I can't seem to look away."
I felt a shiver run down my spine at the intensity of his gaze, and the way his voice seemed to caress every word. He stepped closer to me, his hand reaching out to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.
"You are not just an omega to me, Hazel," he whispered, his breath hot against my skin. "You are so much more."
I felt my heart skip a beat, the tension between us almost palpable and I knew that something was building between us, something that I wasn't sure I was ready for.
Before I could even respond, the rumbling of my stomach interrupted our moment, reminding me of my hunger.
Zane chuckled, his hand still resting on my cheek. "I guess it's time to get you something to eat," he said with a smile.
