~Hazel~
As I sat down to think about how I was going to get back to the academy with no money, I spotted it on the nearby table and grabbed it with shaking hands.
I tried remembering Zane's number, but Ashers' just kept ringing in my head till I snapped out of it and found a way to call Tyler since he was the less busy one.
As it rang, I hoped he would pick up, and he finally did after the second ring: "Tyler, it's me, Hazel."
"I need your help."
I heard the voice of a wolf whining at the corner over how he was abandoning her to attend to me.
"What is it about? Are you in some sort of trouble? Where's Asher? I thought you left with him."
"Yes, I did, but we got into another fight, and he left me here at the hotel." I answered.
Tyler was the only person I could count on, but the wave of disappointment hung at the side, ready to wash me away if he refused.
"Shit!"
"Okay, where are you? Tell me so I can come get you." He requested it, and a quick breath of relief left me as I told him my location.
He arrived shortly, and I rushed over to his car with tears in my eyes.
As we drove in silence, I broke out in more tears as I recounted my experience to him: "I hate to say this, but your brother is a jerk; he keeps being mean to me for no particular reason."
"I know, pretty face, but I actually think he might like you." I was utterly baffled by his words, but at the same time, it was all coming together.
"Why would he? He has a girlfriend."
"Having a girlfriend doesn't mean anything; he hasn't met his mate yet."
"But I'm not his mate; I don't even care if he likes me or not. I just need him to stop making my life a living hell." I cried out.
He took his eyes off the road for a quick second and looked over to me with a smirk, "I guess your wish will be granted tonight when he is coronated as the new alpha."
I snorted, knowing that was a bigger problem than a solution. "He said I'd be coming with him."
A scoff ran out of his throat as he replied, "And you believed that? Neither dad nor his chosen Luna will allow it unless the moon goddess decides to play games by making you his mate."
Hopefully, that wouldn't be my reality. There were so many men out there, and I didn't mind being paired with a fellow omega as long as it wasn't Asher.
"So just relax, okay? Asher isn't worth your tears, and besides, you still have me.
"And Zane." The last words rolled out of his tongue with bitterness.
Even Tyler didn't like to share, yet he was the Royal Academy's dick.
"You have too many girls; they will kill me." I rolled my eyes and refused to be transferred as his whore.
His signature smirk crept on his face again, and his hand went to my thighs, sending a cold chill through my body.
"Why should you care about them? You should be more concerned about how I make you feel."
"I don't feel anything with you." I denied.
It was more of a half truth then, because with Tyler, it was all about pleasure as compared to his brothers, which left me on a rollercoaster of love and confusion.
"Oh yeah? So you are going to lie to me about how badly you crave being touched by me?" I was meant to cringe at his words, but I just melted into the passenger's seat, remembering all that happened when we were together last time.
Closing my eyes and praying that he would stop, I finally pleaded. "Tyler, please don't."
"I already have your brother's drama going on with me."
"And I told you already, he won't be a problem by morning." He assured me again with a rather offensive voice, like I was ruining his fun.
I wanted to concede to his words, but that fear of Asher being a total nightmare lingered on.
We didn't say any words to each other till we arrived at the academy, where he helped me with my dress as compared to Asher, who would have cussed me out for my bad fashion taste.
"Wow!"
"You look breathtaking, Hazel." He gasped.
"No one would believe that you are actually ours with this dress."
I looked into the mirror, and I was stunned by my own beauty. He was right; I indeed appeared to be a lost princess, and even if it were for this night, I would make the best of my time.
"Thank you." I blushed, trying not to have a teary eye over his words.
"I should be the one thanking you because you are just about to make me have more ladies." He smirked, adjusting his bow tie.
Tyler would never stop being Tyler.
"How do you mean?" I played dumb as I asked.
"Because when they see me with you, they automatically get jealous and play 'May the best woman win' on me." Of course, that was all he cared about, and I really didn't mind.
They could have been alongside his other demonic brother.
"Shall we?" He stretched his hand out, and I took it with a wide grin on my face before we both stepped out of the room in sync.
My heart thudded with anticipation and anxiety over what the guests would think of us, but I kept focused on his compliments, which left me in high spirits.
And as we entered the grand hall, all eyes turned to us, and for a moment, I felt like a real-life princess, like he had mentioned.
The dress I had worn shimmered in the light, making it hard for anyone to take their eyes off me.
"They are staring, and I like it." Tyler whispered as I kept smiling back at all of them who bowed to greet him.
But as I began to savor the attention, the gossip started to whiff into my ears.
"Is that his mate?"
"Ewww! No, she's just some beggar maid disguised as his date because of that horrible dress." Another bitter shewolf replied to the first.
"Oh!"
"I thought so, but she is actually beautiful." The first complimented me, bringing a smile to my face.
The truth just had to be spoken, but the second wasn't having it at all.
"Here, put on your glasses and stop spewing rubbish." She handed a case to her, which she took, but I immediately took my attention off them.
Negativity was the last thing I needed right now because I was looking forward to having a splendid night with Zane.
Speaking of him, he promised to be back before the event, but I had yet to see him, and even Asher was nowhere to be found. I possibly couldn't ask Tyler about the whereabouts of his brothers.
Regardless of my slight worries, the witches, Trisha and Tara, decided to spoil my night before it even began as Tyler left me to flirt with some alpha princess from another pack.
"That dress must have cost a fortune; did you steal it?"
"Because I know Alpha Logan would never pay for that." Trisha commented with spite rolling off her tongue.
I couldn't stand there and be bullied, so I gave it back to her.
"On the contrary, your boyfriend, Alpha Asher, did."
"He deposited $2,500 for this dress, and I'm quite curious to know the cost of what you are wearing."
She bared her teeth and instantly spilled her drink all over my dress while Tara just stood there, laughing her ass out, which caught everyone's attention, and they soon followed with the laughter.
"Just because of some ugly-looking dress, you think we are now on the same level for you to talk to me however you like?!"
"The audacity she has!"
My face burned with embarrassment, and instead of standing there to let them all see my tears, I turned and ran out of the ridiculous situation.
I found myself at the bar, ordering drink after drink as I tried to drown my sorrow. As I sipped a cocktail, I observed the others, watching them make comments about me as they danced.
Once again, I felt like an outcast, and I wondered why I ever believed the facade of fitting in.
Slowly, the alcohol started to take effect, numbing my pain, and I began to lose track of time as I heard the host announce that the Alpha and the new Alpha of the pack would soon arrive.
I didn't want to be present, so I staggered up the stairs and into the hallway, searching and hoping for an empty room so I could lay my head.
And as I pushed one of the doors open, I was met by a sight that left my heart bleeding.
Zane was on the bed, his head buried in the cunt of a blonde girl.
