All Marina could feel was adrenaline as she plummeted through the air. Her eyes were wide open, watching the window she had been clinging to grow smaller and smaller. Then, everything went red.

From the ground, Steven's heart pounded as he saw her fall. He was going to catch her. He had no idea how, but he'd figure it out. He had to. Just as he braced himself, she vanished in mid-air, enveloped in a swirling red mist. When it cleared, she was gone.

"Oy, Steven, what the hell are we wearing?"Marc asked, his reflection glinting back at him.

Steven looked down at himself, bewildered."I don't know. She said I needed a suit."

"Yeah, the ceremonial armor from Khonshu's temple, not psycho Colonel Sanders."

"Well, I don't know how any of this shit works, man. I..." Steven adjusted his tie, glancing at Marc. "Well, think I do look sharp, though."

"All right, where is the scarab?"

Steven patted himself down." Scarab... Oh, um..."He pulled out two batons from his back pockets." What's this? What are these little poles for?"He adjusted them in his grip, a grin spreading across his face. " Pretty cool, actually. Ha. I like this."

Suddenly, something heavy landed on him.

Layla finally reached the bottom of the fire escape and looked around, just in time to see a figure hurled through a brick wall beside her.

Steven staggered to his feet, gripping the bumper of a nearby car for support, only to bend it effortlessly with his newfound strength.

"You look different."

Steven yelped as an invisible force, the Jackal, tossed him around like a ragdoll. The red mist returned, swirling closer to the ground.

As the mist cleared, Marina emerged. Her hair was sleek, and a mask covered her mouth. Her armor, black and gold, evoked the elegance of a knight. The coolest part? Electricity crackled through the armor, and when Marina opened her eyes, they sparked with the same energy.

"Wow," Steven whispered, awestruck. That was until the Jackal flung him on the street.

Layla, in a desperate attempt to help, hurled a bottle of vodka at the Jackal. The challenge? She couldn't even see the beast. Miraculously, the bottle shattered on the Jackal's head, leaving a perfect outline of its snout. Layla's eyes widened in shock as the true horror of their opponent became clear.

In a flash, the Jackal snatched up Steven and Layla, flinging them in opposite directions like rag dolls. Layla crashed into a brick wall, while Steven became an impromptu hood ornament for a nearby parked car, shattering the rear window and relocating the vehicle a few feet to the side.
