When Marina opened her eyes, the vibrant blue sky stretched above her, clear and endless. She groaned and rolled onto her side, the cool sand beneath her a stark contrast to the heat. Suddenly, a faint noise caught her attention. She looked up just in time to see one of the men from earlier sliding off Marc's knife, hitting the ground with a dull thud.
Marc's eyes dart around in confusion at the bodies sprawled around him."Oh, my God. Oh, God. Steven, what did you do?" he demands, staring at his reflection in the knife's blade.
"I swear. That wasn't me."
"Then who was it?"
A groan interrupts their exchange. Both Marc and Marina turn to see the boy from earlier, struggling to stand despite his injured foot.
Marc throws down the knife, his voice urgent. "Where's the tomb?" But the boy, terrified, only tries to crawl away.
"Take him to the ledge," Khonshu's eerie voice resonated in the air, a godly command.
Marc hesitates,"He's just a kid."
"He'll talk."
"Wait, Marc, no!" Marina scrambles to her feet and rushes toward Marc as he drags the boy to the cliff's edge.
Marc's grip tightens on the boy's scarf, dangling him over the abyss."Where is Harrow?"he demands, his voice edged with desperation. The boy remains silent, eyes wide with fear." Where is Harrow?"Marc repeats, more forcefully.
The boy's panic subsided for a moment. He muttered, almost inaudibly,"Praise Ammit."
"No, kid."
Before they can react, the boy pulls out a knife and cuts his own scarf, plummeting off the cliff. The sickening thud of his body hitting the ground makes Marina gasp, covering her mouth in horror. Marc stands frozen, the torn scarf still clutched in his hand, staring at the spot where the boy had been.
Khonshu, now perched at the cliff's edge, looks down at the lifeless body. "Mmm. I thought he'd talk.
Fury boils over in Marina. She charges at the bird-man, her face a mask of rage. "You motherfu—" Marc grabs her, turning her away from the gruesome scene. He knew if she saw the body, she'd never forgive herself. He knew he wouldn't.
" What the hell's wrong with you, Steven?" Marc growls at the reflection.
"Me? You're the one going on a killing spree."
Marina shakes her head, looking at Steven's reflection. "Steven, I don't think it was him."
Steven ignored her, his attention focused on Marc."Listen, if you've got a problem with the body count, I suggest you stop listening to that stupid pigeon," he snapped, glaring at Khonshu.
