Ch 4 King Schuyler Part 1
The run had been pleasant. The weather was just cold enough and we ran along one of the many trails that ran along the estate. We'd finished up about thirty minutes ago and now we were just waiting on the stragglers.
"So did anyone stand out to you while we were on our run, Your Majesty?" Tomas has his arms behind his back and he was looking over at the group of people who were talking amongst themselves.
I had one person in mind but I didn't see her anywhere
"The Alpha from Brenhurst seems promising." I said, still looking at the crowd.
Tomas nodded in agreement, "He's at the top of my list too but it's still early."
A young woman with dark brown hair and eyes approached, a worried look on her face, "Excuse me," she said to Tomas, "my sister is Ayla and she still isn't back yet and she never does that, ever. I'm worried."
Now that she said she was Ayla's sister I could see the resemblance in their faces, same pouty lips and heart shaped face.
"What's your name?" I asked her.
"Delilah, Your Majesty."
"We'll wait fifteen more minutes then we'll start looking for the stragglers." Tomas told her.
She rubbed her arm with her head and nodded before walking away.
"Who are we missing?" I asked Tomas.
He flipped through a few pages on his clipboard, "Ayla Livingston, Amber Scotttree, Janine Stone, and Rayna Lyle."
I thought about the worried look on Delilah's face and it left an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. Something was wrong. I could feel it deep within my gut.
"We're not waiting any longer," I said to Tomas before shouting over the crowd. They all fell silent as my powerful voice filled the air.
"Listen up!"I shouted, "We're missing four people and we're going back to look for them. I want everyone to split up."
The crowd shifted in anticipation, excited to unleash their wolves. "Move out!"
Most people shifted into their wolf form and took off and some stayed in their human form. I saw Deliah join a group with three other girls, still in their human forms.
I need everyone's attention. I called my team.
Their replies came immediately, ready for my command.
We've got four people missing from our run this morning and we're headed out to look for them. " I explained, I need everyone to keep an eye out for anyone in tracksuits trying to get inside.
We're on it.
Do you want us to come help look? Sol asked.
No, we have enough people.
I pulled my shirt over my head and I was about to remove my pants when a medium sized brown wolf came sprinting up to us. It slid to a stop then shifted into its human form, leaving a dark skinned man standing in front of us.
His eyes were wide and his body trembled.
This can't be good.
"We found Ayla," he began, "but she's hurt really bad! The further we ran down the trail the stronger the scent of blood got and that's how we found her."
Dread settled in the pit of my stomach and I tried to say something but all I could do was take a few ragged breaths.
I heard a radio crackle to life, but it sounded distant, "We need a medical team out at the training field ASAP." Tomas said over the radio, "We have a severely injured young woman."
