Chapter 42-- Just how far has the evil spread?
******
Guardonia--Christians' rehabilitation.
Christian, once sober had a massively pounding headache and zero sympathy from those sent to 'guard' him.
For his own safety, apparently, he was in the Medical wing, in a plush room with all the entertainment and comfort he could want.
Pushing aside the bedclothes, although he clearly didn't remember even going to bed, he tried the door and found, to his surprise, that it was unlocked.
Pulling his shoes on, his attempt to quietly slink back to his Dorm and contemplate exactly how badly he had humiliated himself was thwarted by Adriano sat at a desk, feet casually propped on the top of it, reading, of all things, Alice in Wonderland.
Sensing Christians' presence, Adriano slowly marked his page and rose to his feet; he was more than a little preturbed to see no remorse or ecognition on Christians' face and concluded that it would bee up to him to fill him in.
Nodding his head in the direction of the door, Adriano added a curt,
"Follow me." and Christian followed him out of the medical wards and into the house corridors, towards the Mentors apartments.
Unlocking the front door, Adriano again nodded at Christian to enter and with a curt "Sit down there," he left Christian alone with his thoughts.
As he could remember precious little of the time since the Joining ceremony and Jakes' death, he wondered how long ago that was and what the hell had happenned to him since.
He vaguely recalled being in the Lecture Hall, then, maybe a disagreement with Josh? Kirsty?
Try as he might, he couldn't remember what had happenned but was certain that he was about to get the memories retold to him, bit by bit and cringed at the thought.
Adriano re-entered the room, carrying a tray of coffee, sandwiches and pastries, causing Christians' mouth to water and stomach to rumble loudly.
"Dig in!" Adriano chuckled, "You are going to need all of your strength to watch the montage of your behaviour I have prepared!" and with a click of his fingers, the lights dimmed and a projected image appeared on the cream coloured wall in front of them both.
Stuffing food down as fast as he could, for he was ravenous, as he watched the footage, he felt sicker and sicker.
Pushing his plate away and gulping the scalding black coffee, he was shocked to see that, after being bodily carried by Deus and Adriano from the Lecture Hall, he was so irate that he had to be sedated by Ara and carried to the Medical ward, where he had spent three days under sedation, for each time they revived him, he kicked off again.
Finally, this being day four, he had awoken by himself and seemed to be calm, so far anyway!
Christian was a writhing mass of mixed emotions; he was genuinely gutted to lose Jake and couldn't comprehend how such a thing could occur in the so--called 'safe haven' of Guardonia, then coupled with that, he both loved and hated Kirsty with a passion and couldn't imagine his life without her, yet had seen a slutty side to here he never kneew existed, making him wonder whether he even ever knew the real Kirsty or not.
That hurt badly, he explained to Adriano, to think he may have been duped by both the love of his life, his friend Josh and most of all, his friend, recruiter and Mentor, Star.
Adriano let Christian express himself; he listened as he shouted, raged, cried, sobbed, screamed and punched the pillows violently.
Once finished, Christian sat or rather flopped, akin to a ragdoll, as if all of his stuffing had been removed.
