Chapter 11- Communicating with an alien species.

(unedited).

As the first years began to settle into their new lives in Guardonia, they became more and more confident, relaxed and aware of their own personalities.

Christian was a kind-hearted, generous boy who always took the time to look after others and made sure everyone was happy; he couldn't stand to see anyone looking stressed or gloomy and went out of his way to make sure his fellow recruits didn't feel this way for long. On a few occasions, recruits became homesick--mainly because they had forgotten the worst parts of their life on Earth and Christian made it his job to ensure that they were cheered up.

It came as no surprise to anyone that Christian was showing signs of becoming a Healer, as his disposition was perfectly suited to the role. His relationship with Kirsty was growing daily and together they were such a sweet couple; it was as if they were an old married couple, who had been together forever. Of course, their skills as telepaths helped and Kirsty was destined to become a Soothsayer, such were her incredible skills of reading the future--sometimes even the Magisters were amazed by her accuracy.

Nathan, who had fast become Christians' best buddy, was almost the exact opposite of him. He was not the type to talk about 'feelings', probably due to his dire treatment on Earth, but was a joker and prankster. Anyone that knew Nathan was careful not to trust him if he offered to open the door for them or offered them a seat--even in Guardonia, people got slimed or sat on whoopie cushions; the vast difference being that these jokes were played in an amiable way, as friends and never in a malicious manner. Nobody had a straight face when Nathan was around; his likeable manner and the way he could impersonate anyone, made him a lovable rogue and his confidence soared daily, due to Casey being by his side as often as she could.

Daily lessons continued and the group had started communication skills with Saggitarius house and intervention and the history of magic with Leo house. In the second year, they would also start transportation lessons with Saggitarius, as this was felt too much to learn for beginners.

Communication skills were taught by a wizened looking man called Argo Navis.

He was an unusual Magister, who had decided to take his path in life as a human instead; he married his childhood sweetheart, both running away from a terrible home life and making their own home and family together, against all the odds. Sadly for Argo, who was named Albert on Earth, the two children that he and his wife produced, both died at a young age, mainly due to their poor lifestyle and poverty-stricken community they lived in. Several years later, when Albert was in his forties and having devoted his life to her, his wife sadly passed away after a long and emotionally draining illness.

Alberts' reason for living disappeared and he lost his house and job, turning to alcohol and one-night stands for comfort, such was his wretched existence.

Fortunately for him, Lynx had kept an eye on him every year since failing to recruit him and offered him a deal; clean up and come with him to Guardonia, where he could live his days out in happiness.

Albert agreed and after two hard working years of one-to-one coaching by Lynx, he recieved his wings and his new name, became a Proffessorial, as well as mentoring any angels who had slipped off the rails and been returned to Guardonia.

It was very odd at first, to see an aged man teaching their classes, but Argo was an excellent teacher. Having lived a life on Earth, he understood what all of his young charges had been through and this made him very empathetic to their situations. His skill as an Empath meant that he could 'feel'each of the first years auras and experiences, thereby allowing him to get to know each of them, without having to ask upsetting questions.
