Chapter 32- A new dawn arising?
****
Guardonia- Landing Stage.
As is normal with recruits returning from Earth, Kirsty and Jake landed in the small, glass room of return.
The room was a nicely decorated one, with an almost tropical rainforest feel to it. Several benches were mis-matched and haphazardly strewn throughout the room, giving it a relaxed and less structured look too.
Kirsty sat down on a bench ,under a bower covered with delicate clematis, that entwined their way up and over the iron-laced archway and emitted a gentle, subtle aroma that caused a feeling of relaxation to all who breathed the heady scent.
June perched cautiously on the edge of the bench, afraid as if her movement may remind her new friends that she hadn't been totally honest with them.
She was so thrilled and enraptured by the angels' presence, that she was terrified to mention her beautiful, golden haired nine month old baby boy, Bradley, for fear of them withdrawing their offer.
She would travel to the ends of the Earth and back again to protect her beloved boy; a baby that was forced upon her from the most despicable of situations, but she had felt an unbreakable maternal bond with her baby from the beginning and believed he deserved the best life, or otherwise, she could offer him.
It was not the best of circumstances to conceive in or to rear a baby in, yet she knew in her heart that it wasn't Bradleys' fault and he fortunately seemed to have inherited none of her evil, pedophilic step-fathers genes.
Kirsty gently wrapped an arm around her shoulder, causing her to start suddenly in fright.
"Shhh," soothed Kirsty soothingly, " Things are going to be great from now on. Your little bundle there will have the best upbringing ever, in amongst all of the other angel babies that are born here. You will be safe, warm, well-fed and, best of all," she added, with a grin, "you will be surrounded by the best group of friends you could ever imagine!"
Junes' face broke out into a broad grin, her blond hair seeming to take on a sheen of its own and her brilliant blue eyes showing happiness for the first time since Kirsty had met her.
Jake meanwhile, was pacing up and down the rows of fragrant flowers, pausing to study the odd brightly coloured, delicate butterflies.
Having no real experience with girls and especially with 'girly things', he was definitely out of his comfort zone on this one-- he double-checked that the Comms. room were aware of their arrival, he continued his pace around the tropical garden.
Suddenly, the doors opened; the detaining time was due to Guardonias' forced extra vigilance after the virus that had been inadvertently introduced by Naomis' return.
Whilst the angels and their recruit relaxed in the Landing Room, the room had been scanning them to ensure, as much as possible that everyone was clear and healthy.
Ara and Saggitta entered the room quietly and spoke to June, cooing over the baby and reassuring her that everything would be fantastic for her from now on.
It was agreed that, as June had only met one female angel, Kirsty would naturally become her mentor and both her and the baby would be moving into the same Dorm-room, in order for them to be integrated as quickly as possible.
Bradley was such an adorable baby; almost cherubic looking, as if he were born to become an angel, with a mass of soft and downy blonde curls mopped on the top of his head and sparkling, azure blue eyes that melted each of the Magisters he gazed at.
