~Daryian~

No matter how hard I tried to let go of Elena's words, they kept ringing in my ears like a broken record.

Jack Salazar used to be one of her hook-ups, that's something she kept from me.

When I asked about him to her, she said she was forced to keep contact with him and was looking for chances to throw him out.

She could've told me if there was something more to their relationship other than their dads being friends.

Why did she have to hide that from me?

Were those clothes Jack's then?

That's so fucking insulting.

But her eyes—whenever they sought me out—seemed so genuine and expressive, I could never accept they lied.

Her feelings weren't fake. They were true, I could feel it. My heart wasn't one to fall so weak to weightless words.

Fingers snapping before my eyes brought me back to reality and I was met with Lucille's glare.

"Earth to Daryian."

"Sorry." I murmured, quickly handing her the papers she was asking for.

She kept glaring at me.

"It's the wrong papers, Daryian."

"Oh- I'm sorry." I quickly took the right ones and passed them to her.

"What happened?" She asked, eyeing the documents over and circling the topics they'd need to discuss in today's meeting.

"Nothing. Just tired."

She rolled her eyes. "It's only 11 in the morning and you're already tired? Have some coffee and freshen up, I can't have my secretary distracted during such important meeting."

"Okay. I'll be back in a few."

The way she spoke to me—not an ounce of tenderness or andearment—it made me wonder if the past month was just an illusion of my desire-craving mind.

How could her personality or attitude towards me change in a flash like that?

Is she bipolar?

I was distraught.

Mr. Herraño looked extra pleased as he and Lucille assigned the team for the project. I stood by the side, handing Lucille whatever she needed.

"I'm sure it'd be a success, Ms. Katz. I have high expectations from you." Mr. Herraño said, and I couldn't help but notice his eyes roaming Lucille's body up and down.

The fuck-

How dare he?!

"Of course, Mr. Herraño. I'm really looking forward to our collaboration." Lucille replied with a sweet tone.

"So am I." He put a hand on Lucille's shoulder, slowly dragging it down her arm.

I turned sharply to Lucille and she still had that sweet smile on her face.

The Lucille I know would never let this slide like this.

I couldn't bear it.

"Sir, your car's waiting. You should leave before it starts raining." I interjected.

Mr. Herraño looked at me with annoyance.

"It's a sunny day, boy. Where'd ya seen rain?"

I smiled as politely as possible.

"The weather forecast says it might rain soon." I hated to lie but I couldn't bear that filthy old hand harrassing my girlfriend.

The old man just rolled his eyes and passed farewell once more with Lucille, then finally got in his car and left.
