2006

MARLOWE AND TASHI still hadn't spoken since that night. Sure, Tashi had tried to call her and text her. She had even gone so far as to show up to her training just to speak to her. But if Marlowe was good at one thing, it was holding grudges.

So when Marlowe saw her already sitting in the stands at Patrick and Art's match, she went to the furthest seat possible from her.

Tashi saw Marlowe and gave her a sympathetic look. All that Marlowe returned her with was a grimace.

Art Donaldson and Patrick Zweig walked out onto the court and made their separate ways to their chairs.

Marlowe looked at Art. She immediately noticed that he still had black marker on his arm from last night. She let out a small laugh as Art looked up to her and waved with the arm stained with black.

She returned the wave, and then looked at Patrick. Patrick waved too, but he was more subtle.

Marlowe could feel Tashi burning holes into the side of her head, and she knew that Tashi was jealous.

Tashi was never jealous of Marlowe, this was usually because she used to be able to control her and make sure that she couldn't be better than her but she never made it seem like she was controlling, but instead just being a good friend.

But over time, Marlowe caught on and she listened to her less. This eventually led to Marlowe and Tashi being on the same level. An even playing field one might call it.

The boy's match began. Marlowe was practically on the edge of her seat.

She had seen the boys play together once or twice, but opposing each other was a completely different game.

She truly had no idea who would win.

So when the first set was over, and Patrick had won, Marlowe couldn't lie, she was quite shocked.

In the boy's doubles matches, Patrick seemed to be the show-off. He would do fancy skills to gain points and impress. But Art was more practical and skilled in the basics.

But seeing the boys play singles brought out a serious side of Patrick.

The last set was coming to an end, and Patrick was still beating Art. But Art seemed determined to win.
