Chapter 18 The scary path

The room is pitch black as Pomni is with Kinger as the eyes had returned to the sockets as the jester is relieved by that but also confused. Because the room is pitch black it is impossible, to see the surroundings of the room as Kinger is looking for a light switch. As the duo continued to navigate through the pitch black room trying to find the light switch. As it is very difficult to even find a light switch to begin with. As there is the sounds of a conversation them bumping into random objects then they finally to found the light switch.

Once the lights turn on it is revealed that the room is a hunting, lodge as there is many trophies. But the trophies are twisted versions of the circus crew being displayed in the room. The crackling came form the fireplace as there is a couple of chairs around here and some tables.

The trophies are mounted on the walls like animals after hunting. It's clear that these trophies are twisted versions of the circus crew. But only the heads as all of the twisted duplicates are here but there is one difference. There is head above the fireplace is very odd. Then Kinger discovered a recorder as he soon pressed the button, as a voice soon spoke from the recorder.

"My name is Baron Theodore Mildenhall. Hunting has been a hobby of mine as long as I can remember— although one could say it eventually became more of an obsession."

"The creature you see before you is one I've been pursuing for years. Not quite man... but not quite an animal. Something... unnatural. Something evil. I took it upon myself to spend every waking moment doing all I could to protect my family from the creature hoping that when I eventually kill it I would be freed from this awful feeling. This inescapable dread. I was wrong."

Kinger has an uneasy expression as Pomni looked at the creature that is displayed above the fireplace, the appearance is very horrifying there isn't any other for information about the creature. It almost looks like it is looking back, including the uncanny expression it had on its face as there is something else that is happening.

Pomni started to notice that Kinger is becoming a bit more grounded but it soon left as whatever happened is gone. The jester decided to simply ignore it and find a way back to the others. Because this room is unnerving especially with the trophies that are on display here.

"You know I'm starting to think..."

"How, about we try to find a back up to the others."

But when the duo retraced their steps the door is now blocked off with a wall made out of bricks. As Pomni had a twitch obviously annoyed and frustrated about this entire situation. As Kinger still acting so strange as the fluorescent lights continued to glow as the king chess piece spaced out look seemed to be more grounded. Though it's only a little bit.

"Ok cool. That's great. I LOVE these adventures."

"We could always ride this thingy up."

When Kinger pointed to an old fashioned elevator been there as the king chess piece had noticed it right there on the wall as the jester went to open it. Only for the elevator to be locked as Pomni started to twitch again as the same annoyed and frustrated expression, returned. As this is just frustrating to deal with all of this as it's a never ending nightmare.

"It's locked. It's locked— of course. It's locked! I LOVE THAT IT'S LOCKED."

Kinger started to open the drawers that are here to find the key to the elevator as Pomni reluctantly joined in. Despite been so annoyed and frustrated as the jester had manage to find the elevator key. As Kinger found another, cassette with a recording as it is very similar to the previous cassette that they found.

As it is clear that Baron loves to talk, as it isn't clear what is with the cassettes. And what is on this recording but Pomni wanted to leave. But unfortunately Kinger pressed the play button. The jester gave the spaced out king chess piece a glare for doing that action.

"Tuesday December 4. Although I shot the creature multiple times in the vitals and severed its head to keep it as a prize on my wall...my troubles were just the beginning. I took my eyes off the body for what felt like only a minute and when I look back the body was gone. The creature was not dead and it would be back to reclaim what I'd taken from it. If anybody is listening to this all I ask of is one thing— do not let that head out of your sight you've been warned."

"Well this some rather inconvenient lore predicament."

"I got IT."

Once retrieving the elevator key the lights immediately went out making the room pitch black again as the only things shown are the duo eyes. As the elevator key fell down as Pomni and Kinger are having a conversation with each other. As the decapitated head of the creature vanished. As the lightning is flashing in the room as it is right behind them.

"I'm sorry could you speak up? I couldn't quite make that out."

The decapitated creature head continued to shriek as bright white lights started to flash as it continued to float close to them as sharp jagged teeth appeared. On the creatures mouth still heading towards them as the jester went to the elevator with the key to open it. But Pomni dropped it as the key as the repetitive shrieking continued from the decapitated head. Pomni is trying to get the key back that she previously dropped as Kinger finally discovered what's happening now.

"Pomni I think this might be the creature from the tapes."

The jester ignored him trying to get the key back as the decapitated creature head is right next to the king chess piece. It opened its mouth for a long shriek as there appeared to be multiple bright flashing lights inside of the mouth that resembled eyes as the white glow return to the decapitated head.

Kinger couldn't look away as his pupils enlarging as he mind became fuzzy a different type of fuzzy as a rainbow of memories returned. He didn't even realized what he is doing. As his surroundings are replaced with something else and it is familiar with somebody familiar too as his eyes also have a glassy look as well.

"You look beautiful honey...."

He started to move closer to the decapitated head. As everything else faded, into complete static as there is the sound of a key unlocking something. Then somebody familiar pull him away but he didn't want to leave HER again.

"Come on!"

"Huh? Oh yeah."

Pomni's voice soon pulled Kinger out of that dazed as his eyes returned, to normal as he is just confused about what just happened a few seconds ago. As they headed back to the old fashioned elevator to get back to the circus crew. As the decapitated head continued to shriek endlessly.

"Prepare for take off cause this boat is going up."

"Huh? That's not up that's not up at all! Why aren't we going up!?"

"UUUUUUUUP!"
