1:15pm, Friday

Juliet gave a slight sigh as she put the final box on the shelf.

It had taken her from the time she arrived at work at 9 o'clock until now for her to spiral bind 200 booklets, pack them into two re-used paper boxes, label them, and put them both on the shelf.

For some reason, this city consumed books about commercial electricity standards shockingly quickly.

With her current job done, her arms aching, and her stomach starting to rumble, Juliet decided to take a break before taking on the rest of the binding that needed doing.

She passed the old guy who did vaguely the same thing she did on her way out of the print room.

"I'm just going to grab lunch, be back in half an hour."

"Righto mate, enjoy." He replied.

Juliet grabbed her backpack from the locker and retrieved the tub with a serving of Wednesday night's Singapore noodles in it.

Juliet always found it weird how much her mother liked Asian cuisine, considering how racist she otherwise was...

As she watched her lunch start to spin in the microwave, Juliet checked her phone.

She was surprised to see an Instagram notification, considering she basically never used it for anything. As she tapped through the menus, Juliet stopped for a moment when she saw what it was for.

A direct message from someone called 'Korrasamistan441'.

Ahh, someone with taste...

A smile came across her face as she read the message.

Korrasamistan441:

Hi Juliet, it's Fiona from speed dating

<Message sent 35 minutes ago>

DING

The sound of the microwave finishing heating her meal brought Juliet back to earth for a second.

Juliet could barely contain her excitement as she nervously responded.

Scarecrow117 (Juliet):

Hi

Long time no see

The response finally came while Juliet was finishing off her noodles.

Fiona:

I know, right?

How have you been?

Juliet:

I've been ok

Nothing interesting

Juliet cringed slightly as she typed it out.

Fiona:

Fair enough

Juliet froze up a little as she couldn't think of anything to say back. She was looking through Fiona's photos for inspiration (and because she was a hot girl) when she sent another message.

Fiona:

So, you don't have to answer this if you want to...

Juliet felt a sense of dread come over her as she awaited the question.

She somehow had a good idea of what the question would be, even though she'd never been asked it before.

Surely it was clear? Her pronoun pin had the trans flag colours on it.

Then what was she going to ask?

Fiona:

What is your most controversial halo opinion?

"What?" Juliet mumbled to herself.

Juliet:

Well...

Honestly?

Fiona:

Of course

I'm a serious woman

Juliet:

Master Chief needs to die for the series not to stagnate

Or like, he needs to be gone from it (like when he was just completely gone between 3 and 4)

Fiona:

Madam, you have fulfilled the brief perfectly

That is a pretty spicy take

Juliet felt herself smiling from ear to ear.

Somehow, she found herself messaging with Fiona for a good while about the lore of the Halo games...

She was shocked when she caught a glimpse of the time, and saw that 45 minutes had passed...

Her lunch break was only scheduled for 30...

Juliet:

Shit

I just saw the time

I have to get back to work

I can only have my phone with me when I'm on break

Fiona:

Ok

Talk soon?

Juliet:

Of course

Juliet smiled to herself as she put her phone away and got back to work.
