CHAPTER FOURTEEN: STUCK TOGETHER

"Okay, so the road should split up here." Pope told John B who was in the driver's seat of the Twinkie.

The Pogues were back together, looking for Parcel 9 by using the map they'd found. Although they were together, there was still some tension between Emma and the group. They just weren't focusing on the situation as of now, because finding the gold was their main priority.

"All right, you're gonna take a left." Pope continued guiding the Routledge boy, who did so.

In the back, Emma, Kiara and JJ were waiting patiently to find the "stone wall" that was on the map according to Pope. There was an awkward silence between them, as no one bothered saying much.

But soon, they pulled up and saw what they were looking for. JJ was the first to mention it while John B stopped the van. "That looks like a stone wall to me."

"This is it." Pope uttered, staring at the house in front of him.

It was the Crain house. It belonged to Hollis Crain, and all of the kids and teenagers feared the land. Many children grew up over the tale that Mrs. Crain was a psychopath who killed her husband.

"Not the Crain house." John B groaned as they all got out of the vehicle.

"Yeah, I'm not doing this." Emma muttered under her breath. She clutched onto the van door, still not approaching the property.

"We're going..." JJ pulled her towards the group. "...Unfortunately." He continued. He was just as afraid as she was.

"Why'd it have to be here of all places?" Pope sighed.

"I heard that Mrs. Crain buried her husband's head on the property." JJ looked at Emma, his voice and expression serious. She wanted to punch him for saying that.

"Why would you tell me that?!" She exclaimed. She did not want to be there. In fact, she'd rather stay in the van and let them go on this mission alone. But, Emma's fear of missing out was always beating her at this game. Because, what if they found the gold? With her just being in the van? That would make her go insane. So, she relucted and followed the group towards the scary house.

They snuck into the front yard. Surprisingly, the garden was beautiful. It was full of green. Unsurprisingly, there were statues. And if this were any other house, Emma would've admired them. But here, she was ten times more afraid. The statues looked petrifying on this property. The stories she's heard about Hollis Crain were mortifying. Her brother would disagree, though.
