I opened my eyes, squinting in the light. I looked around and felt like someone was holding my hand. When I looked down at my hand, I saw a gorgeous lady clutching it—Ada.

She is the most stunning lady in the universe.

But seeing her in this position and state broke my heart. Her face looked pale as if she hadn't slept, her eyes puffy from continual sobbing, and there were dried tears on her cheeks, and all of this was due to me.

I wanted to speak and say something soothing, but my mouth was dry, and words appeared to be locked deep inside me. All I could do was look at her, my heart racing with each passing second.

She moved slightly, and the subtle rustle of her movements caught my breath in my throat. Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked at me, her expression changing from confusion to incredulity, and finally to something that made my chest ache: relief. She clutched my hand even closer, as if scared to let go in case I vanished, like a figment of her imagination.

"Vidyut," she muttered, her voice shaking, just a breath, as if speaking too loudly would break the fragile tranquility we enjoyed. "You're awake..."

Her comments hit me like a blow in the gut. She seemed relieved, but there was something more hidden beneath her voice—something that tore at my heart. Fear—fear of losing me. I am afraid that I will not wake up. That concept sat thick in the air, stifling me. It was a terrible reminder of the danger I'd been in, and the uncertainty of whether I'd survive.

But I'm pleased it was me who got shot, not her. She is strong enough to take it, but I am not. If something happens to her, I may lose all sense of reality.

I slowly turned my head towards her, my eyes meeting hers. For a minute, we just stared at each other in silence, both completely immersed in the experience. I could see tears glittering in her eyes, but she had not let them fall. She blinked quickly, her lips parted as if to say something, but no words came. She seemed to be scared that speaking would break something inside her.

"I'm here, Ada," I managed to say quietly, my voice scratchy and rough, like the sound of stones grinding together. But that was all I could manage. My body was still feeble, but I wanted her to know I was there. I was not gone.
