The morning sun cast a warm glow over Florence's quaint terrace house as Lando pulled up in a sleek, understated black saloon car. He stepped out, his signature grin lighting up his face, and made his way to the front door. Lando raised his hand to knock, rapping lightly on the wooden surface. After a brief moment, Florence swung the door open with a bright smile.
"Hey, ready for our little adventure?" Lando greeted, his excitement showing through his cheeky smile.
"Absolutely," Florence replied, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. She wore a casual yet effortlessly chic ensemble: jeans paired with a cosy jumper.
"Thanks for picking me up, I'm looking forward to it."
Lando flashed her a charming smile as he put her overnight bag in the boot and carefully hung her dresses in the back seat. "Thanks for coming really," he said sincerely. "I owe you one."
Florence laughed, her eyes dancing with mischief. "Oh yea, that you do, in just about a month for Isabel's wedding, don't forget."
"How could I?" Lando replied with a playful wink. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
As they embarked on the drive, the conversation flowed effortlessly between them. Lando shared anecdotes about his extended family, painting vivid pictures with his words, telling her about his Belgian side of the family who knew how to have a good time at a party.
"And of course you know my immediate family, my brother Oliver, the one getting married," Lando continued, his tone affectionate. "He's the laid-back one, always been the calm presence in the family. And Savannah, his fiancée, she's amazing. Warm, kind, and they just fit perfectly together. And then there's Mila, their daughter. She's a bundle of energy, always curious, and recently started crawling, so always on the move. You'll love her."
Florence listened intently, a smile tugging at her lips as she imagined the lively family dynamic. "She sounds adorable. I actually brought a little toy for her. I hope that's okay."
Lando's grin widened at her thoughtfulness. "That's really sweet of you," he said, genuinely touched. "Thank you."
As they continued their journey, the conversation shifted to other topics, and soon they were sharing laughter and playful banter. Florence teased Lando about his driving skills, and he retaliated with playful jabs about her taste in music.
As they approached the charming countryside hotel, the sun was beginning to set, casting a warm golden glow over the landscape. The building was covered in ivy, and the gardens were meticulously maintained, creating a picturesque scene. They walked to the reception desk together, where the receptionist greeted them with a warm smile.
"Good evening," Lando said. "We have a reservation under Lando Norris with the wedding party, for two rooms."
The receptionist checked her computer and then looked up with an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry, Mr. Norris, but there seems to have been a mix-up. We only have one room booked for you."
Lando frowned. "Just one room? There must be a mistake. I booked two."
"I'm terribly sorry," the receptionist explained, "there must be an error, but we're fully booked due to the wedding. I can see if any cancellations come through, but for now, we only have the one room."
Just as Lando started to speak up again Florence placed a reassuring hand on Lando's arm. "It's okay. We can figure it out later. We have just about enough time to get ready for the rehearsal dinner," she said, her easygoing nature quickly dispelling any tension.
Lando sighed but nodded. "Alright. Let's get to the room and get ready."
After dropping off their bags to the room with Florence, Lando let her settle in while he went to greet his brother and the rest of his family.
