A/N: I don't own Smallville or any characters and places in the DC universe. Nor do I own the episodes that these chapters are based on and contain from.

I also don't claim to be a writer. My inspiration is to get a creative outlet going.

I only own Tyla Nevin and what pertains to her character story.

Clark hesitated before he walked out of the elevator to LuthorCorp. It had been a long time since he had come to visit any Luthor, whether as a social visit or a preventative action. He was surprised that security had let him into the lobby to begin with! But with the recent news that buzzed around the heads of any of the Luthors, he was shocked to hear about this. If it was any indicator of the press that was parked out on the plaza, it seemed like it was a shock for them as well. He turned the bend towards Tyla's office, finding that the door was wide open. The blonde was leaning against her desk, her back was towards the window, and she was fidgeting with her office dress when he rapped his knuckles against the door. She looked up and nodded before turning back to the phone.

"Yes, the 30th should be fine. Can you forward the details to Lex?" She spoke. "Yes...thank you. Bye." She flipped her phone closed and walked over to Clark. "Hi, C.K."

The man threw his arms around her in an embrace. "You've been busy," he noted. "Tying up loose ends?"

She bit her bottom lip. "So, you've heard...." It wasn't a question. It dawned on her that the entire world would have known by now of her resignation. It wasn't a puff piece as far as news went. No, between Lex dodging the press and her slumping behind the scenes for a quick getaway, she didn't have time to catch up. "With Lionel back, I figured that three may be a crowd." She reached up to rest her hand on her stomach and then stopped.

Clark raised an eyebrow. "I don't know you to back down," he mumbled.

"For the right reasons, Clark. I'd do anything." She hadn't announced anything to her friends. Her leaving truly being because of her pregnancy. Some things were best kept quiet. "Now, I know enough that you're not here to have dinner with me. Or him." She glanced over to her watch. She had to be at Le Petit Fleur to meet Lex in.... half an hour.

"It's about Kara," He blurted. He looked behind him, feeling foolish.

"It's just me here. Lionel is still in recovery from his little forest adventure." She reassured him. The cameras were off. The end of the day was apparent. Only her security was meeting her below. "What's this about your cousin then?" She added, motioning him to walk with her to the elevator.

"I stumbled across an underground government lab. It's located beneath this silo in Granville," he started to explain as he started to walk with her as she closed up the office. "I was hoping that you knew something about it."

"If you think Lex is involved with the government, I need a little more than a supposition, Clark."

"Actually, the reason I came here is.... well, you have a lot of contacts in Washington. I thought maybe you could tell me something about it."

"What about your mother?" Martha would probably know why the government was situating themselves in Granville.

"She doesn't have your pull," Clark complimented. "You leaving LuthorCorp....it means that you're going to take your connections with you. You always did that, right?"

Tyla pressed her lips together. She wasn't going to answer that. In a way, she would take her connections with her but a lot of them were very comfortable with LuthorCorp perks. They might lay low until she started things up....at best. "The only thing I know is that the lab in Granville belongs to the Department of Domestic Security."
