Summary: A visiting Lord is very confused when he sees a boy (who's definitely not a noble) in places no servant should be, being chased down by the king after insulting him but never seeming to end up in the dungeon and training with the knights. It didn't help that whenever he asked someone who he is the only response he gets is, "That's Merlin." Which only confuses him more because 'Why is the king running around the castle yelling his name and demanding people find him?"

Third person pov:
Lord Simon was happy to be going to Camelot. His father's death came very sudden and the responsibilities of being a Lord was wearing him down. The king was his age and, even thought it seemed immature, he was hoping to make a friend.

The ride there was smooth. There were no bandits or detours and everything was on time. He arrived to the young blond king greeting him. Arthur seemed frustrated, not with him, but just had that demener about him. Queen Guenivere was right behind him, shaking Simons hand and asking about his journey. He told her that everything went well before he heard the king yell, "MERLIN!" and run off. When he fot another look her saw that Arthur was chasing another young man in peasants clothes. The queen smiled and shook her head before turning back to him.
"We have some servants waiting for you in there." She pointed at the main entrance.
"I'm sorry my Lady but... who was that?" Simon guested to the direction the king ran off in.
"Oh that just Merlin." She laughed and walked off, leaving behind a very bewildered Lord.

Little did Simon know, that wouldn't be the last time he ever saw Merlin. In fact he was everywhere. He knocked on the King's door and Merlin answered it, he went to see that knights train and Merlin was with them, he looked around the kingdom and saw Merlin running around with small viles of coloured liquid. These weren't the only places he saw him either. The reason he dismissed him as a servant was the fact that he was in every single council meeting, talking and joking with the knights, and whispering things to the king at meals that cause him to tempereraly choke on his drink or food.

In fact he didn't only see him, he heard his name everywhere as well. In whispers from the servants, to literally hearing his name being yelled by the king. The latter is usually followed by a large crash sound. He had no idea who this person was either. Every single person he asked they always responded with the same thing, "That's just Merlin."  He tried to specify what he did with a knight he believed was called Gwaine. Instead of a real answer, he responded with, "To stop is all from killing eachother!"

The last straw was when he saw Merlin and Arthur next to eachother talking and when he fot closer, Arthur was calling him a coward. Instead of standing there, Merlin answered back. "Arthur, you look like a toad. You can't say anything." Considering he had always been told that insulting a monarch was treason growing up, this was very odd to hear, especially from a peasant.
"Oh please Merlin. You are the stupidest person I have ever met." The king responded.
"You are such a clotpole!"
"Well, you are so lazy!"
"That's a big word for a simpleton. You sure you know what it means?" He laughed and the king set off to chase him.

He was crazy. That was the only explanation.  He had heard Camalot had tje best physician out of all the five kimgdoms so he decided to stop by to see if there was anything wrong with him. He entered the room and the most releving conversation he had ever had ensured.

"Hello."
"How can I help you?"
"I think in going crazy."
"Do tell me why?"
"Well, I keep seeing this man around the castle. He has black hair and blew eyes and he keeps doing the strangest thing. And whenever I ask who he is, in only response I get is 'That's just Merlin' and its driving me crazy."
"Am I right to assume he's close to the king and does stuff that Mist would get beheaded for but gets away with it?"
"Yes!"
"You are not crazy. Merlin is my apprentice. His mother sent him up here a few years ago and he saved Arthur's life. His reward was being his manservant and the two have become close. He has been by Arthur's side longer than he's been on the throne, that's why he gets away with those things."
"So I'm not crazy?"
"No you are not."
"Thank you so much!"

He returned back to Camalot many times, each time Merlin was there and he was grateful for the knowledge that he was definitely not crazy.
