As the ball came to an end, I found myself back in Ciel's study, looking for the gift he had given me. "Looking for something, Y/n?" Ciel asked, catching me by surprise. "Oh, Ciel! Yes, I thought I left my necklace and the ring in here." I chuckled nervously, slightly embarrassed. "You handed them to me, remember?" He chuckled, holding up the box. "Oh, right. My apologies." I laughed. "Here, let me." Ciel insisted, walking up to me.
I nodded and stayed still as Ciel hooked the necklace around my neck. I admired it in a nearby mirror. "It looks better on you than I imagined." Ciel remarked, his cheeks a dusty pink. "Thank you." I smiled. I slipped the ring onto my right middle finger, admiring the jewel as I did. "They're beautiful, Ciel." I rested my hand on his shoulder. Before Ciel could reply, I heard a loud thud outside and watched as a tree fell to the ground.
"What the devil was that?" Ciel demanded. "Maybe it was a cat?" I suggested, looking out to the forest. "There's no way that was a cat." Ciel rolled his eyes. "Sebastian!" He shouted. "Yes, My Lord? Is everything alright?" Sebastian walked through the door with a tray of tea. "What was that noise? Out in the forest?" I asked. "I'm not sure, My Lady. Perhaps a wild animal of sorts. I shall go scope it out immediately." Sebastian bowed before jumping out of the window behind Ciel.
Ciel sighed, crossing his arms. "I seem to have found the pest!" Sebastian declared from afar. Ciel and I peered out the window to find a pale, naked man on Sebastian's back, licking his face. "Pluto?!" Ciel shouted. Ciel began to storm from his study, heading outside. "Oh? Who's Pluto?" I asked, following the young boy. "A demon hound. Quite an annoying one at that. The only person he enjoys and pays attention to is Sebastian." He groaned as he pushed the doors open. My eyes widened from the young boy's statement.
I'm sure he'd love to meet Emile. I chuckled to myself. Speaking of, where have the boys all run off to? I dismissed my thoughts as Ciel stopped in front of Sebastian and Pluto. "So, this is Pluto?" I asked again, scratching his head. Pluto woofed, climbed off of Sebastian and transformed into his demon form, laying on his stomach. "Aw, how cute you are!" I cooed, scratching his stomach. "Finally." Sebastian remarked, dusting himself off.
I laughed softly at the remembrance of Sebastian's hate in dogs. "What is that mutt doing back here?!" Ciel demanded. "I couldn't say for sure, My Lord. Since Pluto doesn't speak regular English, I'm afraid, I am at my wit's end." Sebastian held his hand over his chest. "Excuse me while I go find something." I stood up and ran back into the manor. I looked around for Emile, but only found Ifera flirting with Mey-Rin. "Y'know, I bet you'd look absolutely gorgeous without these glasses, Rin." He purred.
Mey-Rin began squealing and stuttering about being far-sighted. "Ifera, where's Emile?" I asked, interrupting their moment. "How am I supposed to know? And I'm kind of in the middle of something." He gestured to Mey-Rin making her blush. "Your poor attempt at flirting with someone else's staff isn't that important." I rolled my eyes and walked off. Maybe he's in the garden? I thought as I walked that way.
Instead of finding Emile, I found Hikaru and Finny talking while munching on biscuits. "Hi, Princess!" Finny cheered, waving with both arms. "Hi, Finny. Hi Hikaru." I giggled. "Have either of you seen Emile?" I asked, looking around. "Um, I haven't seen him in some time now. Sorry, Your Highness." Hikaru shrugged. "It's alright. Back to looking for me-" I heard a loud woof. Emile's. Is was coming from the front of the manor. "Have fun, you two." I walked away from the two back to the front of the manor.
My eyes widened before softening at the sight. Emile and Pluto were playing around with each other. "That's where you went." I remarked, making the two demon hounds turn to me. "Are you having fun with your new friend, Emi?" I asked with a smile. Emile woofed happily in response and went back to playing with Pluto. I laughed at the two as they played while Ciel held an annoyed expression. "Why must you always be cranky? It's my birthday, have some fun! That's a royal order!" I ordered teasingly.
"I wish I could, Y/n, I truly do. But Pluto is too much of a bother to the Phantomhive household." Ciel sighed. I pouted, crossing my arms. The one time I hope everything goes well... "Allow me to update you, my dear." Sebastian stepped in. "When the servants of the Phantomhive household including My Lord himself traveled to the village of Houndsworth, there was a rumour about a demon hound that My Lord and I initially believed to be a farce created by Henry Barrymore." I sighed, but continued listening.
"However, when said man was dragged from the cell where he was being kept and was found dead, we decided to investigate further. Finny, Baldroy, Mey-Rin, and Tanaka initially discovered Pluto in his human form, but before they can investigate him further, they are distracted by the townspeople." Sebastian continued as I nodded, taking in the information.
"What they saw was Pluto, formally known as 'The Demon Hound', but decide to follow him further when they notice he is carrying part of Angela Blanc's clothing. Angela Blanc, also known as Ash Landers, is a 'fallen angel' as the mortals call them. Her story is something for another time. More importantly, it turns out that Pluto was just her pet, but had killed Henry because of his abuse of the Demon Hound legend." Sebastian took a big breath, as he had been talking quite a bit without breathing.
"Angela had then handed Pluto over to us. Despite my master's countless attempts at trying to give him away, he seems to keep coming back." Sebastian finished, sighing. "That's what you're upset about, Ciel?" I asked him. Ciel turned to me and nodded, clearly still annoyed. "Allow me to take him off your hands for you. I'm sure he'd get along with Emile and Evelyn very well." I giggled as Pluto jumped around. "Take him. He's positively agonizing." Ciel sighed, holding his head in his hand.
"Pluto!" I called out to him. The demon hound turned to me, stopping his constant frolic with Emile. "How would you like to come home with me?" I asked with a smile. Pluto looked back and forth between Sebastian and I as he turned back to his human form. He finally turned to me and woofed happily, jumping on me and tackling me to the ground, making me laugh. Pluto then began licking my face happily. "I'll take that as a yes." I laughed when he finally climbed off of me.
Sebastian handed me a handkerchief and I wiped my cheeks and face. I looked up at the sky as it turned to the beatuiful warm-coloured ombre sky. "It's getting quite late. We should return to the palace." I suggested. "Thank you once again for the wonderful ball and the gifts. You really know how to make a girl feel special, Ciel." I rested my hand on his shoulder. Ciel looked at me with pure determination, but also slight hesitation.
Before I knew it, Ciel had pulled me into a hug. It was... pretty enjoyable, I'd have to admit. I slowly melted into the hug, hugging Ciel back softly. "Y-you're welcome." Ciel stuttered, slowly pulling away. His face and cheeks were dusted a soft pink, making me smile. "Goodnight, Ciel." I smiled as Ifera readied the carriage. "Have a good night, my dear." Sebastian smiled, reaching his hand out to pat my head, but pulled his hand back. "Thank you, Sebastian. To you as well." I giggled.

That night, I found it hard to sleep. With all of the new information I was given, why would I want to sleep? I'm a demon! How did this happen? Why did it happen? What can I do that I couldn't before? I'd have to ask Sebastian the next time he comes by. I sat in my study, looking for anything that might calm down my certain state; Nothing worked. Reading made me more curious, humming to myself didn't work either.
I walked out to the palace gardens. I found comfort in the gentle winds that blew and the beauty of the flowers. As I walked through the gardens, I found Pluto citting near some dark blue roses. "Couldn't sleep either, Pluto?" I laughed, looking down to him. He shook his head 'no' and I kneeled down to rub his head comfortingly. "You aren't alone. Let's go get a late night snack, hm?" I offered him, making his eyes light up.
The two of us strided towards the kitchen and found comfort in sweet snacks. Me a leftover cake and Pluto some dog treats. Before I knew it, the two of us had fallen asleep on a couch in the main room.
