How Pathetic, My Lady

"Alois Trancy, My Lady." The boy bowed and placed a kiss on my knuckles. "I'm so glad you were able to make it! And such stunning attire, fit for a princess such as yourself!" He exclaimed with a sweet smile. "Though you might just make me jealous." He continued, this time his smile was sickeningly sweet, with a hint of a devilish tone. "The pleasure's all mine, Earl Trancy." I curtsied respectfully. "Oh, please. Call me Alois, princess. I do hope we could become the best of friends!" He smiled. "Well then, to return your humble gesture, please, call me Y/n, Alois." I smiled.

For the next hour or so, we just talked and laughed, as if we've known each other forever. It was comforting, to talk to someone without being pressured to marry them or to force any ties between each other. "Ah, Y/n! I'd like you to meet my butler, Claude." Alois gestured to Claude walking towards us. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Princess Kima. Although we have met multiple times before." He bowed with his normal, emotionless expression. "Nice to see you, too, Claude." I gave my best fake smile, but was distracted when I heard a loud crash.

My head whipped over to where I heard the noise come from, and saw an utter disaster. There seemed to be a disagreement of some sorts, because a young girl with beautiful blonde hair ran out of the ballroom, crying, and she had bumped into a female carrying a tray of champagne in wine glasses that broke. She ran out behind the young girl, also crying. "Oh my, whatever happened!?" I asked after I ran over to the group of women who noticed the girl run away.

"I apologize for the outburst, princess. It must have been very disturbing." A young woman curtsied apologetically. "It's quite alright. May I ask what your name is?" I smiled. "Ariadne De Mare, Your Highness" She curtsied again. "I just had a bit of a disagreement with my sister. I shall go check on her, please excuse me, Your Highness." She curtsied before walking off with what I thought was a smirk on her face. The women quickly dispersed as dancing music began to play. "Shall we test your dancing classes, My Lady?" Sebastian bowed from behind me. "We shall," I mocked him, giggling.

Sebastian grasped my hand and pulled me towards the dance floor. He wrapped his hand around my waist and we twirled in circles in the middle of the dance floor as the crowd watched, 'ooh'd and 'awe'd. "It seems that your dancing lessons have finally payed off, My Princess." Sebastian smiled. "It seems so," I muttered. "Sebastian, can I ask you a question?" I asked as he twirled me around. "Of course, My Lady. What seems to be bothering you?" He asked when we were face to face again. "Where have you been? While I was talking to Alois, I couldn't spot you anywhere." I asked. "I sincerely apologize, My Lady. I was a little suspicious of this manor, so I decided to scope it out. Although I did find trouble along the way." He sighed.

"Oh well. You didn't do anything wrong so, it's nothing." I sighed. "Y/n," I heard Alois behind me. "Nice to see you again, Alois. Is everything alright?" I asked. "Partially. I was wondering if I could dance with you." He held his hand out towards me. I looked at Sebastian who simply smiled, bowed, then walked away. "Why not," I giggled and took his hand. "Come then, Y/n. For we shall be the best dancers in the ballroom tonight! Hannah!" He exclaimed. A tall woman with long, light blue hair and an eyepatch nodded and pulled out a piano. She stretched her fingers before sitting down at the piano, and started playing a lively tune.

My eyes brightened and I reached towards the back of my ball gown. "Sebastian! Come help me with my gown!" I commanded. He jogged over towards me and unhooked the skirt of it, transforming it into a much smaller one, much more manageable.

"Astonishing! You surprise me even more, Y/n!" Alois smiled. "Well, I must be prepared for every situation, my dear Alois. Now, shall we dance?" I smiled. He chuckled, pulled me close, and we danced the night away. When the song was over, I curtised towards Alois as a 'thank you' and went to go sit down where Sebastian was talking to Claude. "You really like that Claude fellow, hm Sebastian?" I giggled as he looked at me with a surprised look. "Oh, no. You could say I absolutely despise him." He smiled, annoyed. "Ah, yes. Sexual tension between enemies, very common." I hummed to myself, and Sebastian shot me a shocked look.
