She looked down and stared at her wrist. The ink was still fresh, the skin surrounding it pink in reaction to the needle struck there earlier. Some say tattoos are permanent things that one would regret in the older days. Perhaps she would regret it one day, perhaps she won't. See the idea behind that particular tattoo was that it represented strength. Strength to go on despite the thorns in the bush, despite the rough pavements she walked on barefoot, despite the rain that kept her drenched all day and night. It represented the strength to wake up in the morning and breathe; live.

The semicolon tattoo, while it reminded her of why it is there in the first place, also reminded her that she made it that day. Even though everything else was pulling her down, anchoring her to the bottom of the ocean, she resurfaced and slowly swam in direction to the shore. It reminded her that she needed to live; for the people around her.

Because contrary to her belief, she was going to create a ripple effect regardless. Be it to her boyfriend, her best friends, her sisters, her parents. It was going to cause a whole ripple and she hasn't reach the point that she was willing to create that ripple.
