After her long weekend with Nikko, she did not know how to act when she went back to work on Tuesday
There was definitely a pep in her step and she wondered if others noticed. The amount of sex they had in those three days should be in the Guinness Book of Records. She lost count of how many times that man licked her like he was trying to lick a postage stamp.
She giggled at that thought, him being a mail courier and all.
She made it to her place Monday night so she could prepare for work all week. She felt young again. Like the years she missed because she was too busy being a wife and mother now she had a second chance.
"Jakinda, I need someone to attend this new commission in the city," her boss said to her.
She was already busy with the lead paint commission, what else did he need her to do now?
"Yes, tell me about it and I can see if I can fit it in."
"It's going to coincide with Earth Day, but they need to start planning now, I put you on the commission, and I'll email you the dates and times of the meetings. Oh, they will be after work hours."
He had to be kidding! They were not going to pay her overtime for that, because she was salaried. If she had to attend meetings after work, that meant she was going to work some half days. Enough with the bullshit.
She looked over the email he forwarded her and it actually looked like an interesting program. Talking about Earth Day around the City's public elementary schools. She liked anything that dealt with the kids. If she finished college, that's what she would have done, gotten a degree in social work so she could help families.
So although she was "voluntold" what to do, she looked forward to working with the commission.
When she told Roxanne about it she screwed up her face. "Why is he asking you to do things the City Planners are doing? You're his assistant."
"I know but...when I interviewed I did tell him I was interested in doing more and I told him my interest and so-"
"Then he is not paying you your worth and you're just taking it. Girl, wouldn't be me. I know my lane and Jerry knows I am not stepping out of it."
Roxanne did not attend college, and now never wanted to attend college. She worked right from high school doing whatever job she could. Now she was where she wanted to be in her career, with no upward climbing. She on the other hand wanted something more.
The elevator dinged and she looked to see it was Nikko stepping off. The man sure did look good in his uniform.
"Hey, ladies."
"Heeey Nikko," Roxanne said all playful.
"You know this is my favorite stop on my route," he said, grinning hard at her while he dropped off their mail.
She wanted to kiss him so badly but had to stay professional. What if someone walked out on her kissing the mailman? It did not matter if they were dating, it was a bad look."
"Y'all so cute together," Roxanne gushed, and she had not even told them they were officially together.
"Can I see you tonight?" she asked him.
"Lady, you know you can see me anytime you want. Just come on over. After work?"
"No, I better stop home first."
"Let me come pick you up at your place then you don't have to keep paying for stupid parking. And in the morning..."
"Ooo," Roxanne said.
