47 days since - Friday - Monaco

My fingers clenched around the steering wheel as I stared blankly at the traffic light. Days had passed since I received the text, and the anger had only grown stronger.

It haunted me; it was a relentless reverberated echo through my mind that kept popping up no matter how hard I tried to drown it out. When Alex mentioned it, I didn't want to believe it. It didn't want to believe that Carlos was capable of harassing a woman, let alone assault Jasmine.

The long sleeves in the heat of Monaco's summer spoke volumes, and I wished I could've seen right through them to see the violence Carlos had put her through.

The honks behind me shook me from my thoughts, and I noticed the green light and sped off. I was supposed to go to the gym and get groceries, but the image of Jasmine with long sleeves and the text I received made it impossible to concentrate.

I called the friend who initially sent me the picture, and he picked up on the third ring.

"Hi, mate," I immediately said. "Sorry for not responding to your text anymore."

"Ah, no worries. I figured you were busy anyway," he replied. "I haven't shown anyone else the picture, but he has been back in the gym. It is Carlos Sainz, no?"

"Yeah, it's Carlos Sainz," I admitted with a sigh. "Have you gone up to him?"

"Nah, man. You know the industry. My dad would kill me if I went up to one of his customers asking him who he was. The gym is for the elite for a reason; they hate being asked about it constantly. I just needed confirmation."

"Has the woman returned yet?"

He sighed, "No. And my dad is going to hate it if this news comes out. So far, the rumours have quietened down. Why are you asking? Do you know her?"

My silence answered his question, and he sighed more deeply this time.

"Who is she?"

"Jasmine Leclerc."

A third sigh, although it sounded more like a groan this time, "My dad is going to kill me if this news comes out."

"I am sure that the Leclercs will try to keep this under the radar as much as possible, too," I tried to reassure him. "We're having a race next week; I will try to talk to Charles then. Sooner if I see them."
