7) Flowers 🪷

The next day I woke up extremely excited and ready to start the day Lisa is already in my room and holding my day dress.

"Miss, I must warn you your mother is on a war path the paper from yesterday has her going crazy. I also heard you would be getting an extravagant gift today." I give her a huge smile and walk in front of my mirror

"Mother will get over it." She pulls up my clover green dress with bell sleeves and a halter neckline with a mullet skirt and a cummerbund belt, the belt is a meadow like blue and matches my jewelry.

As me and Lisa walk downstairs I can hear all sorts of people rushing around, it isn't until I get into the welcoming room I realize why... it's full of flowers so many I can't tell you what any of them are... they seems to be from every district I can recognize some that are here in the air district and some I saw while in the fire district but I don't know the names of any besides maybe a handful.

"Oh Lisa do you see the flowers too?" Her jaw is open just as mine was a second ago her eyes from wider the more she looks around the room "I can't believe Edmund would do this..." Lisa nods in agreement

"My lady this is quite an expensive gift... and it seems to be a huge gift as well... what makes you think it was the Duke who gave these to you?" I turn to her with a questioning look "who else would they be from?" She shrugs and looks away from me to the floor

My mother walks in the room with a scowl "pick your favorites we will have them sent up to your room the rest we will be giving away." She immediately walks out of the room as Edmund walks in looking around the room a proud smirk on his face

"Do you think I have met your flower standards this time?" I grin at him while turning to the room on flowers "I would have to say you did very well, I don't know how you will top this at our next meeting." He laughs softly before looking to Lisa "oh apologies! Edmund this is Lisa, Lisa this is the Duke Edmund." She gives a curtsy her eyes wide

I walk away and start looking at all the flowers "What are these?" Edmund turns to me "that right there is a Lotus flower." I nod and pull one out of the dozen

I do that with the Canna, Calla Lilly, Coreopsis, Azalea, Daffodil, Bellflower,and Gladiola most of which I had to have Edmund tell me the names of. I feel bad I can't keep them all but I get to keep the entire dozen of those flowers so at least not all of them will go to waist.

"Would you like to go on a walk through the Air district? Maybe see some places meet some people." Edmund is not very good at hinting to things but I give him a small smile "I must inform my overseer, please give me just a moment." I give a small curtsy before leaving the room and going straight for my brother Robort

"I need you to help me!" I grab his arm and drag him down the stairs "what is wrong sister?" When we reach the bottom I look around before turning to him "I need you to oversee a walk with the Duke, mother would kill me if I went to her!" I rush out my sentence hoping he understands what I just said

Luckily he nods understanding what I just said "of course but answer me this little sis, you don't plan to marry this Duke do you? You do realize he is from a different district and he could hurt or kill you if he got angry and lost control of his fire, you aren't a fireling you aren't fire proof." I nod and look to the floor

"He agreed to show me the districts if I can find him an air district wife...I just want to see everything before I won't be able to, the second I get married I won't be able to leave until I have children." My voice is barely a whisper but he heard it none the less

"We mustn't keep the duke waiting what terrible company we must be." I'm surprised he didn't comment on what I said about me and the dukes deal or the children thing

This is why he's my favorite brother, he leads me into the study where Lisa is giggling at something the Duke said and he has a smile on his face, Lisa's giggle quickly stops when she sees my brother and the dukes turns to us "ah my favorite young gentleman! Will you be joining me and your sister on a walk through the town?"

They both shake hands as my brother speaks "yes I shall if that's all right with you." The duke nods with a grin "of course in fact I was hoping it would be you, not to speak ill of her but I don't think your mother likes me very much."

Before I can stop myself I laugh oh he has no idea my brother is quick to elbow me in the gut as Lisa looks at all of us horrified "You could say that." My brother says unable to hide the laugh from his voice "Where will be be going?"

Edmund and my brother both turn to me "isn't it obvious the park! Everyone is there already." This time of year is the perfect time to go to Irina park, it's not to cold not to hot it's absolutely perfect

Welcome Lady's and Gentleman.

Today seemed to be extremely eventful for Miss Melanie as the Duke filled her house of flowers. Apparently he sold out three flower shops in each district just to make Miss Melanie happy!

That seemed to have gotten the Duke not only a public date but an invite to the next two balls in the Air district.

Speaking of next balls, the Water district has finally decided when and who will be hosting the second ball of the season! None other than Lady Hellfikire I'm not sure how she will top what the fire district did but I know I can't wait to find out...
