So many things are going wrong.

Jennifer is hurt. Newt and I know exactly who caused it. If only we knew his name, though... "We should ask someone to look in the files. He must've signed his name somewhere," I say.

"Guys like these are smart. Yes, we can check, but he won't hurt her when he knows he can get caught," Newt replies. He turns his sketchbook around. "What do you think of this?"

"That's really nice."

"What if I bring you your paint? I need some shirts, love. Can you paint this on there?" He points at his drawing once again.

I blink a few times. Did I misunderstand that? Was he just calling me Lynn and is my hearing crap? "What did you just..." I try.

"Oh." His face falls in realization. "Sorry. My family often uses it for each other and, well, you know— sorry." Flushed, he averts his eyes to his drawing.

I am flushed as well, but smile. "I like it. Don't worry."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah." I nod. "But don't quit calling me Lynn either."

Newt eases himself with a laugh. "Noted."

"But yes, I'll paint for you. Just not in a hospital bed." I sit straighter up, bringing my legs to the edge of the bed. "I'll try to walk."

"I don't think that's the best idea. No one said you could already—"

I stand up. "Oh, wow. I got it."

Newt pulls a face. "And now you walk."

"Can you help?"

He leans back in his chair, arms crossed, grin on his face. "Nope. You wanted to get up so badly, and I said you're not allowed to. Now you may do it yourself."

"You're so rude." I shake my head. Newt laughs again. That gives me more trust in this. Slowly, I take a small step. Other than my nose and stomach hurting a bit, it's not too bad, especially not with the painkillers I get every morning.

"The more I move, the faster everything will go back to normal." I take another step. "See? I got it."

"Mhm." Newt watches me walk across the room.

"What?" I look down at my body. "Don't stare like that. I almost thought I didn't realize I wasn't wearing anything or something."

I am wearing something, don't worry. Cargos and a plain shirt.

"Okay. That's enough for now. You'll hurt yourself." He leads me back onto the bed. "Let me see your stomach."

I tilt my head at him.

"Please," Newt adds. With a shrug, I lift my shirt up.

"Looks good, right?"

"Yup." Amazed, he blinks. "Very good."
